The Huntsman Lite arrived today. I have to admit, I was having a bit of buyer's remorse, but after getting it in hand, it's already my favorite SAK.

The box looks nice, and I like how it's a callback to the actual color of the knife. Sadly, the pamphlets are in Japanese, so I can't read them. It's still a neat little curio though.

It has all the standard tools of the Huntsman Lite, though I somehow missed that these were Stayglow Plus scales. Imagine my surprise when I found a pen and then a pin hiding behind the corkscrew. I didn't realize Victorinox even had a Plus version of these scales, unless this is the first time they've done it.

I think this is pretty much my favorite toolset. It has all the most used tools off the Swiss Champ and Champion, without all the excess. Yeah, I know the light isn't the greatest, but it'll be enough to guide me around in the dark. I'm planning on putting my edge on it, then it's going into my pocket.

Oh, and it comes with a whistle too. It's small and unobtrusive, so I'll probably just throw it on a keychain.

As soon as the 58mm Emergency tool gets here, I'll post some shots of that too.

Very neat.  That didn't take too long to ship at all.  Best wishes.  G

Especially surprising since it was scheduled to get here a week after the 58mm Emergency Tool.

The 58mm model finally got here this week and after a quick reprofile on the blade edge, it went right on my keychain.

And here's a group shot of the Emergency Tools, my cobbled together Stayglow Climber, and  Stayglow Classic.

Nice ones.  What was the reason for reprofiling the main blade on the 58mm?  Best wishes.  G

I usually tune the edge on every SAK I get. They're mostly okay from the factory, but almost all the ones I've gotten have had a nasty burr that needs to come off.  Sometimes the edge grind might be a little uneven or wavy. In the case of the Emergency tools, the tips had gotten a bit blunted, likely during final polishing. So I'll just reset them at 17 degrees each side and leave them with a coarser edge finish. That seems to give me an edge that holds up well for most of my usage.

That has been my experience  as well as far as edges go. I find the slightly coarser edge give me a bit more sliceyness on stuff like jute twine and plastic packing, as well as holding up a bit better.  I don't do shaving or surgery with my pocket knives, so a super polished edge is no good to me.  I don't know what grit the bottom ring of an IKEA soup bowl is, but it gives a very good slicing edge on my SAK's.
Don't get too serious, just enough will do.

Every new knife I get gets a 15 degree edge put on it. I like them to actually cut nice. Try whittling wood, for example with a sharp 20 degree edge, (like what new Vics come in), then a sharp 15 degree. Like night and day. With 20 degree, they're sharp, but you have to push a lot harder. I steel once in a while (backwards, like stropping), and all is good.

On topic, those knives look great.

Looks like they're not limited to Japan anymore:

What's your bet, were they a hit (and that's why the expansion to other markets) or a miss (the unsold supplies need to go somewhere!)?  ;)

I did see them in the links you left.  When I clicked on the find a dealer, I got this sort of response for both links.

I don’t think they’ll be available in the U.S.   those pesky button cells is the reason.

I found these international links thinking it will be easiest for everyone to access, but here are the original links from the Polish knife forum:
https://www.victorinox.com/pl-PL/Produkty/Swiss-Army-Knife%E2%84%A2-i%C2%A0narz%C4%99dzia/Outdoor/Emergency-Tool-Huntsman-Lite/p/1.7915.E808

The Find Online option there seems to lead to legit dealers:

Edit: On the German site (de_DE) they're listed with prices but out of stock, so for those interested, it might be worth checking other localised Victorinox sites that are the nearest to or most convenient for you.

520zl makes about $146.  I don't know how much our friend Stuntzombie had to pay for the ones he got shipped from Japan?  Seems like he got them from Japan.  Wait!  I have a can of yellow spray paint and a couple of spare SAKs.
How many zlotys are the little 58mm ones?  Best wishes.  G

Edit:  I looked for the 58mm Emergency knife on the Polish site, but couldn't find it.  The good news is I found that I could buy a No.8 Colorama Opinel for only 67zl (under $19).  Thanks to our friend Rodia, if I am ever in Poland, I will know what to buy now.  Opinel, please. G

285zł for the little guy. The German prices are €119 and €65, respectively. The regular Signature Lite is €39 there, so that's €26 for the scales and whistle.

Can't see a way to justify the price on the 58mm.
The bare minimum of tools , for me, in 58mm is found in a rambler.
Still, the only thing that's cool has to be the glow in the dark scales.  I've got more than enough AAA size flashlights as well as a few whistles.
The wife bought me an SOS kit that's in an Altoids style tin that has one of those cheap multi tools that has a tiny flashlight built in.  A whistle, fire starter, compass, cable saw and finally a small card tool.
I'm quite sure that she paid less than $10.00, for the whole kit.
Addicted to sharp pointy things.
