Canada Day morning walk.

I took the Canon R100 and the Canon RF 800mm f11 lens out today. This being my second time using the lens. I do like my results with this combination.

Flowers.

That is a handy lens combo for sure. And lots of willing models too!

It is a fantastic duo. My only problem with the lens is that I cannot seem to get birds in flight yet. 1280mm is so small that quite often I can't find the birds flying. If I do, it is very difficult to keep them in the frame.

Wondering what the R10 might give me with better autofocus tracking capabilities. Still pondering if there is a need for this. I think I will spend more time using the "basic" R100. I can't argue with the results.

You might end up using a spotting scope like those star gazing astronomers. Or find slower models like turtles, snails or growing grass.. Personally I struggle to get photos of stouts. The dang animals just don't pose very well - I have more photos of stout asses than faces for sure.

On a side note many birds will utterly ignore cars so you can get real close. I once got within 10 meters of an eagle sitting on a cliff by the road. It couldn't care less until the camera started making clicking sounds - mirror less is nicer that way I assume.

I fear I might have to buy an RF 100-400mm lens if I get any more serious with the mirrorless stuff. I recently got a beautiful Canon 80D DSLR to play around with...and I still have that heavy Sigma 50-500mm lens...
