SOG Sunday
on: October 12, 2025, 09:28:23 PM
I checked a couple of different places and I didn’t see a day of the week picture thread for any SOGs. So, I figured why not start a thread and start sharing. For a while now I have been carrying a SOG on Sunday to mix it up and to give some of my favorite tools some attention they deserve. So what SOG are you carrying this fine Sunday?

Today’s carry is a late model P3.

My PowerLock is within easy access. I'll have to remember a photo for next Sunday!

It has been a been quite a while since I have picked up a new SOG. Yesterday, I bought a PowerPint. I  know that this tool get a lot of negativity on the internet. For less than $40.00 USD, I think you get a lot of tool for that money. The outside tools are limited since they have to nest around the plier head in the closed position, but I knew that going in. I did three mods yesterday based on feedback others provided on the forum. I ground the nub on the bottle opener off and did a hollow grind on one side to fit it for outlet and receptacle slotted screws. I did a similar mod to the can opener. The third mod was to smooth out the spline on the file. I liked this so much I did it to all the spins on the exterior tools. I plan on carrying it off on over the next week to see how it will fit in the daily rotation.

Shout out to Alan K and PitCarver for carrying theirs on the Power Challenge earlier this year. This would not have been on my radar otherwise.

Great carry today Barry! Looks like your PowerLock has the piano keys style locks for the inside tools. You don’t see that to often.  :like: :like: :like:

I remembered to get a photo, and I had a willing test subject. For some reason, one of my entryway closets had an extension cord that was plugged into an enormous outlet multiplier (it turned your standard two-plug outlet into a six-plug). I couldn't see any reason for the extension cord to be there, so out it came. The PowerLock handled the removal of the non-grounded plug. Now I just gotta hope nobody says anything about this when I move out.

Good use on getting that cord out. I am glad your PowerLock made short work of it.

:hatsoff: The first cut was made with an ST300, simply because it was a smidge easier to access in a big hurry.

While I am not carrying this one today, I still thought I should share. Here is a new to me PowerLock. It came with the leather sheat staple Lynwood, WA.

Pick up a like new in the box early S60. This one you and clearly see the difference between the cap crimper plier jaws and the wire crimper jaws. I find it interesting that when SOG updated the plier jaws with the wider cutters, the standardized on the cap crimper jaws.

Great stuff for today, gents! :like:

On Friday, I decided to tame the rat's nest of wiring under my desk. That required cutting paracord to make cable ties. The PowerLock cut small lengths 325 cord (which I bought in a 1,000-foot spool) and helped with finishing the ends.

I still need to do something about the PC's power cord, but this is much better than it was.

Great carries and uses Barry and Farmer. Farmer, glad the PowerLock tamed the tangle of cables under your desk. Also, great use of Parachord.
