Knife Find
on: March 11, 2009, 10:02:08 PM
Well this last weekend I was able to come across some pretty rare knives and I was just wondering if anyone has an idea of what they're worth. I am tempted to keep one of them, the rest are all relatively unimportant to me but a collector would drool over them  . Alright here are the knives I picked up:

(Victorinox)

84mm Super Tinker with Square Phillips (I am tempted to keep it for all the 84mm mods I could do with the scissors)
91mm Golfer with Divot Tool and golfer logo (worn off now though)
58mm Princess
58mm Cavalier
84mm Gourmet

I picked a few more "uncommon" ones up like a couple of compacts and some 80's variants I'll use for modding, but no Scientist or Yeoman finds unfortunately. I'll post pics later when I get batteries for my camera.

I think the 84mm SuperTinker would properly be called a Salesman.

If it's in good shape, I wouldn't recommend disassembling it either. You can likely trade it here for a more beat up version or even just the individual parts.

Okay, here is the condition now that I've taken time to eyeball it:

Main blade: tip broken off, belly sharpened away, not good shape at all
Second blade: Sharpened away some, faces of blade scarred badly from stone
Square Phillips: Doesn't look abused at all, has the split in it for the meat cans, just noticed that, very subtle :)
Scissors: No nicks in blade, very smooth action, scissor spring broken
Cap Lifter: Tip was sharpened almost like a chisel, not sure why, but also not factory, still usable though
Can opener: dirty like rest of knife but not twisted; edge is slightly nicked in the middle
Reamer: Perfect, looks like it was hardly used. Could get buffed up on the edge but definitely best looking blade on the knife aside from the scissors
Scales: Read missing, front intact but missing tweezers and cross has fallen out
Keyring: still has the factory tiny keyring it appears

So you could put a set of scales on it and reshape the main blade, but the knife blades would be ugly. It really needs a nice tourist donor for handles and the knife blades. But as I said it's a great parts knife for the scissors and the phillips, you could do all kinds of 84mm Cadet/Sportsman mods.

And you're right Max, it is the Salesman:

So no one in here is interested in it? I'd love to pass it on if someone else who is nuts about 84mm scissors wants it; I am just myself not a big fan of scissors in general so it would just end up on a mod for a friend some day.
