Gerber's attempt at a SAK ???
« on: February 05, 2010, 07:34:34 am »
I got these 2 pocket knives on Ebay. They were listed as 'Gerbers' & I have seen similar pocket knives listed for sale also listed as Gerbers. The only branding on these little pocket knives is 'Fiskars' on the scissors. I believe Fiskars owns Gerber  .

They are small, next to my Victorinox Pioneer.

Some blade  ::) :D :D :D :D.

Beefy drives  :P. The phillps , straight edge drivers & blade are deployed by sliding them out of the tool via the small black grip. Reminds me a little of the Case Fixxit tools system

More decorative than functional  :D

Unlike a conventional pocket knife , were the knife dominates the tool , the scissors are the main implement on this tool.

They even have slide out tweezers  :o :D. The top knife shows the tweezers partially removed. The Gerber/Fiskars tweezers are smaller than Victorinox tweezers as seen in the photo.

The 'tortoise shell' pattern seems to be wearing off both knives.

The problem with these pocket knives is not so much the quality   , it is more the impression that they seem almost fragile as seen by the broken bit of this ones scales. Not a good trait in a tool or pocket knife. Unusual & interesting but defiantly not a SAK better  :D

still a interesting pocket knife, shame about the scales as they do look flimsy, does the scissors fold out or push forward like the other tools ?

Paul the scissors fold out of the tool were you would normally expect the knife too fold out from, if you get my meaning  :D :D

Fiskars does indeed own Gerber.  :tu:  I had one of those and they were ok for the $$$.

Nope - I do too!

I bet the scissors are good though Mat? They look very similar to the Multilite scissors.

Dave you are right the scissors look very similar too what Gerber uses in its MTs & they seem ok. The rest of the tools are contained within the scales & they feel very light duty.

Gerber "Keystyle" is the name. Do a Google and you will find several web pages for them.

heres one--------http://www.gunaccessories.com/Gerber/Keystyletool.asp

I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.

I like the look of them too, quality issues aside.

Those scissors look like they have been on steroids compared to the rest of it  :ahhh

Sans the fiddly little blade, it would actually make a nice pair up with a dedicated knife.

Well, the scissors are a Fiskars design so they must be good. I have a couple pairs of these and the scissors are great but I find the rest of the tools lacking and since the covering flakes off so bad it does not seem a good EDC for me.
