84mm Rarities?
on: August 13, 2010, 04:25:14 PM
Which models are the hard ones to find or most sought after?
Thanks!

Bantam, Alox Bantam (Waiter), Waiter, etc. with reverse-crimp bottle opener, any 84mm with file or scissors, and specialty scales (materials, certain logos, or colors - like the green celidor), et cetera. :)

Pictures of ones you have questions about? :D

Thing to remember is that if you have scissors ones even if they are poor condition they will still be worth selling so long as the scissors are OK.  They be mod fodder ;)
I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.

None of the ones I have left have scissors.  Already sold my 3 Salesmans.  But...I do have an old vintage Tinker Small with the old slotted phillips and stainless steel tweezer head and old sabre style small blade.  I'm still going through the rest.

I also have an older 84mm tourist that has the standard
Victorinox
Switzerland
Stainless
Rostfrei  on one side of main blade, but is blank on the other side?  Havent seen one like that...thought they all said Officer Suisse or something like that?  Also has grooved corkscrew

got another Tourist w/same front side tang stamp as above and Victoria Officier Suisse with the crossbow on the back and grooved corkscrew.

If its in good condition that's probably the most valuable of the bunch.

Oh...and it does NOT have a keyring, tweezers or toothpick.  Am I right that it is a Tourist?

I'd say so, the earlier Tourist came without T&T and it was available with or without keyring.

Here's a 84mm version of the Grand Prix. Quite rare I suppose...  :) (I'll make some better pictures once my collection is complete )

Wow, that is nice and it is rare since it has the metal file. I think they made fewer 84mm SAK's with metal saw than with scissors.

Here is my rare 84mm Hoffritz Victoria Master Craftsman with a keyring;

Wow both 84mm knives look great.  I don't believe I have an 84mm with a metal saw/file...  oh no... something else to watch for.

That craftsman is really neat!! Here are 2 more you should be looking for... :D
Does anyone have more info about the black (oxyde?) blade? It's the only one I have ever seen! Do they have them in 91mm as well?

I have been buying 84mm SAKs with combo tools to rob the combo tool for mods. So i had a lot of 84mm parts left over so i started making 84mm solos. Did they ever make 84mm solos?

WOW!! 84mm Black Oxide!

That must be relatively new... I wonder if it's a prototype of something to come?

Yeah the BO is new to me as well.  At first I though I'd seen it before but then realised I was thinking of the Wenger.

If the BO is a prototype, than:
a. you must be an idiot trying to get in a plane with it (and you deserve to get SAK'd  :twak:)
b. I'm very lucky  8)

So it's probably not.  I'll ask next week in the shop here in Brussels if they know more about it...

Golfer with long nail-file and horn scales.

Not common, but these seem to be popping up a bit lately.

Love them.

Nice Golfer indeed!
As mentioned before, I went to the shop in Brussels to show them the black oxyde 84 but they were also very surprised to see it. They think it must have been a very special, limited edition, not sold by them. Not so recent as it doesn't have the 'swiss made' engraved on the blade. They said they would ask their contact in Ibach for more info. If I hear about it, I'll sure give an update here...
