A different breed of multi
on: December 10, 2006, 06:55:33 PM
Upon installing my road bike onto the trainer I reached for my Crank Brothers multitool. I suddenly thought, "Hey, I wonder if the guys ever saw this!?" It's pretty purpose-specific but still a cool tool to have around. I have the Multi-19. http://www.crankbrothers.com/tools.php Now I wonder if I can modify it....  :D

I like the looks of it. They appear to cram a lot of tools into a compact package.

I think I have to get me one of them just so people can see it and think I am heading off to work on the Starship Enterprise!

HA! The Multi-19 it has gotten me out of some tight spots in some places where even my cell hadn't worked. Since then I have started to get into multitools but never actually bought one until my LM Core last week. It's amazing how I got along without it.

Hardy-har-har Mr. Smartypants. Like I said before, my "want-it" list is still longer than my "have-it" list.

that looks pretty cool to me too- I'd even get some of the pedals listed on that site so I could carry them around and when people ask what it is I'll just look at them and say "you wouldn't understand!"

I'm looking at a picture of the "Eggbeater", and I don't understand either.

It's for overlapping plasma conduit relays in the pre- neutronium matrix so that the internal isolinear shell system doesn't extend out of phase.  Personally I don't see what's so complex about it, but then I am smarter than the average bear...

Of course for post plasma conduit relays, due to the decreased core temperature in the overlays, you can do the same job with some chewing tobacco and a screwdriver.

Hehe... I couldn't figure out what they were either.  Aren't they competition mountain bike pedals???

That's what they look like to me, but I haven't been into competition bikes since Chromoly frames were the "new" thing!

Damnit, Def, why you gotta tell'em?!  I was just waiting for one of the guys to say that. ;)

Actually, they are pedals meant to be used with cleats on the bottom of a bicyclist's shoe. They can be used by road or mountain cyclists, though I think mtn bikers use them more than raodies.

That's cause the roadies don't make too many bumps that knock their feet off the pedals...

There are quite a few roadies that do use them. I'll take my stainless Speedplay Zeros over anything else, thanks.

 They're bicycle pedals that are used in conjunction with shoe cleats. http://www.speedplay.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=home.zero

Going back to the first post on this thread, I was checking out the Crankbrothers tool again. (http://www.crankbrothers.com/multi19.php) It reminded me of all the other bicycle multitools I'm seeing on the market these days. I don't know a dang thing about any of them.

I'll try putting together a list with some pictures, and maybe you Roadies and Off-Roadies can tell the rest of us what you think of them.

i have this, its really reliable and simple gadget,i only wonder do they offer spare parts since the pin that presses the chain loose,in my own,is worn so much that it doesnt split 7 speed chains that are thicker.

I still haven't used any Crank Bros tools. No idea about the availability of spare parts. :-\    Tarro, was yours used much to become so worn?

Yup- fortunately I transferred right after that Alderraan thing...

As a maintenance guy I can share a little secret with you.  It wasn't really a lucky shot from that guy who looks like Mark Hamill that blew it up- in reality it was management's desire to cut corners and use a smaller than code fuse box.  I warned them that too many folks plugging in toasters or hair dryers would cause an overload, but did they listen?

Then, they started using Wookies for slave labor, which admittedly saves some money now, but did you ever see the hair dryers those buggers use?

I'd say that the upper levels of Babylon 5 are much nicer than the Deathstar though ::) :D

I dunno- Darth Vader's quarters were large but Spartan.  Moff Tarkin's quarters were nice though, with a big screen TV and mirrors on the ceiling...
