RIP Gene Wilder
on: August 29, 2016, 09:59:48 PM
 Gene Wilder has died at age 83. He was a very funny and talented actor and screenwriter. Every tribute you see tonight will mention Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I prefer to remember him for something else, as the writer of Young Frankenstein, and his performance in that movie. One of the funniest films ever. RIP sir, the world has lost a treasure. :salute:

He was brilliant in the original The Producers. It was just on the other day, and I was rolling with laughter even though I've seen it a million times......

Richard Pryor and Gene in Stir Crazy. Great Movie. I remember when his wife , SNL member Gilda Radner died, he did a lot to promote early diagnosis for ovarian cancer.

RIP

Only recently did I see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I like all of the movies he worked in. Young Frankenstein and Blazing Saddles are probably the ones I like better.

Very talented actor.

That was my all time favorite Gene Wilder movie, right after Blazing Saddles.

I saw the interview by Alec Baldwin (they seemed like great old friends) on a one-hour TCM documentary “Role Model: Gene Wilder” made in 2008. If you get a chance watch it it was very touching and showed a side he rarely showed.

RIP funny man, you Gilda and Richard are back together...

TCM (Turner Classic Movies channel) is going to have a special (schedule change) for Gene on September 29th, an all nighter.

Starting with the Interview "Role Model: Gene Wilder (2008)" then the movies:  Young Frankenstein (1974), Start the Revolution Without Me (1970), The Frisco Kid (1979) and Bonnie and Clyde (1967)

One of the greatest comedic actors of all time, as well as one of my personal favorites.
Anyone who may not have seen Young Frankenstein should remedy that immediately.
