Your old toys
on: March 31, 2009, 11:12:37 PM
I didn't want to hijack another thread so i'll post here. I see a lot of use on here were GI Joe fans. My friends and i had GI Joe epic battles in the front yard of my mom's house. No telling how many are still buried in the drain pipe at the end of the road. Besides GI Joe we played with Transformers, GoBots, Micro Machines, Mighty Men, Thundercats, and Glo-Ghosts (remember Ghostbusters?)  They had some good toys back then...cartoons too..the full marketing ploy.

and how could i forget Gremlins!

My old toys were Tootsie steel cars, Hot Wheels and Matchbox (my favorite HW was the Twin Mill).

I loved toys when I was a kid. I was and am a huge fan of the G1 Transformers. And I really liked GI Joe (the pansy ones ::)) and He-Man. I still have alot of the G1 Transformers from when I was a kid.

Tons of Ghostbusters (never got the Firehouse though :( ), He-Man, GI Joes and their associated vehicles, Legos, lots of toy rifles and machine guns (America nees to bring these back in a big way), pots and pans, and various weird things like Luminaries, Sectaurs, Rock Lords, Mad Balls, Visionaries...

Sectaurs!  Good grief, I'd forgotten them.  Very short lives here but my brother and I had quite a lot of the suff in the poster.  We had most of the stuff mentioned already, He-man, Action Man (GI Joe), Transformers, Star Wars etc also MASK comes to mind.  It was almost without exception that he would get the baddies and I'd collect the goodies.
Be excellent to each other and always know where your towel is.

Legos, Lincoln logs and Hot Wheels.  An awesome combination for exciting afternoons of smash-em ups, sweet jumps and car chases.  We were big on all three.

Tonka trucks too.

Oh yea and Mattel's creepy crawlies cooker thing.

And yea, I had GI Joes.  But they were years before Kung Fu grip (Hell, they were well before the show Kung Fu!)

My son had a collection of pound puppes, until his dog turned them in to ghosts (plucking out their eyes and noses).

The subject of toys always makes me moody, more so than any other subject. I STILL love toys...

I'll show my age by saying that I used to have a squad of those Viet Nam-era GI Joes (with the beards and about 11 or 12 inches tall). My favorites were my Planet of the Apes action figures and my Star Trek models. My parents left them in a box at our old house when we moved...

I also had a Pee Wee Herman doll. I totally missed the boat in that I could have sold it for pretty good appreciation after he was arrested. Instead I kept it and it lost a ton of value. That's why I'm not a stock broker...

Bill.
