The mini Bic won't need any maintenance or refueling and will last for a very long time (keep it dry), even with use. I smoke and an orange mini bic is part of my edc + spares. I always encourage non smokers to carry a lighter on them just in case, comes in handy lighting a siggy for a pretty lady, or as an icebreaker of sorts.
If you don't use it..you don't use it!
Maintainence and price isn't really a concern, I refill it once per week and takes a minute and by now it's already a habit. The problem is I'm literally running out of pockets to carry all my stuff without winter jacket. Even the leatherman has beed downgraded to briefcase carry.
If your carrying a Ferro Rod I wouldn't worry mate

DefIt's possible in a pitch, a sheet of paper with a bit of pocket lint or cotton and you got a match that you can light with a ferro rod

I haThe high polished chrome finish on mine also makes an excellent impromtu mirror for when the wife/girl friend needs to check her makeup.
