Emerson A100

Looking to get into my first Emerson, and it looks like the A 100 is the one I want. Anyone have first hand knowledge of it?

Make sure you handle one before you buy, as Emerson quality isn't what it used to be.
The 154CM steel is still good, as is the handle design on most, but especially in the locking department there is much room for improvement, and certainly for the prices they command.
I've handled way too much Emersons with badly fitted & wobbly linerlocks, and even their framelocks are nowhere near as good as Striders, (and even they have some hickups now and then) let alone Chris Reeve.

I bought an emerson horseman about a month ago but haven't used it yet. There apparently and I have to agree with the emerson I have is they need a little break in time. My liner lock is solid perhaps a bit too much. It's a bit sticky disengaging it which I am a bit disappointed in.
My advice as well if your choosing an emerson is do some research on the edge grind you require. My horseman is what emerson calls their v-grind which seems to be good for my use. I also though have a la griffe and it has the chisel grind which I find terrible for cutting things. Like them both and have always wanted to own an Emerson but if
your not too particular about brands and want to spend less money there are some pretty good buys out there on great quality production blades.

If you ever want to get rid of the Lagriffe there's a few people who may want one if you post it in the sale/trade section

I liked the look of the design with the fingerhole, but coulden't find a Lagriffe for a good price, so I ended up getting a Spyderco Spot (which I think Mike Perrin also designed), but I don't like the blade shape

The Emerson folders look pretty hardcore though! This Emerson snubby (don't know the exact model #) looks really nice for EDC:

yeah that's a nice pic of those emerson's. I'll keep that in mind about the Lagriffe. The one kewl thing about it is it's so light and you can wear it and forget it's there until you need to cut something.
I see they have the new A-100 mini out as well.
