Today, I thought I'd try my 4500K Mac's Tri-EDC... You know there's nothing like a $200 EDC flashlight to make you check your pockets every 10 minutes!

That's one reason why I try not to carry anything to expensive. I lost a brand new knife a day ago and was mad until I remembered it only cost me $10.  :D Alright im still a bit mad at myself for losing it but I think ill get over it.  :D

Mine's been carried a lot: it's too well made and too bright to be a shelf queen.

Carrying my new high CRI Quark regular today.  A 123 head on an AA body running off of a 14500 with a deep carry pocket clip.

I've been making good use of my Gerber Infinity lately, good sized pocket light and bright enough for close-up work.

Whilst I'm not a big fan of Gerber Multi's, the Infinity light is one of my favorites.  I really like the red one for when I'm being sneaky at night :)

that switch arrangement looks interesting, is it easy to get a hang of?

It is pretty intuitive. The main switch (forward clicky) is more protruding than the strobe switch, so your thumb naturally rests on it. Very difficult to activate strobe unless you want it.

The light always comes on in high mode. With the light fully on, pressing the strobe button changes the brightness to medium, then low. There is no memory, so turning the light off always returns it to high. Momentary mode is always high.

Regardless of whether the light is on or off, pressing and holding the strobe button will activate strobe.

It's actually quite refreshing to see a light that comes on in high, it seemed for a long time every single light that was being produced went L-M-H.  Not that there is anything wrong with that, but sometimes you just want lots of light without having to cycle through modes.  As it happens I've got that Jetsteam set up as H-M-L and am quite happy with it. :)

And I thought my snagging the LD01 SS on Newegg for $30 was a steal, good catch!

I really like the LD01 SS.  If it had a warm emitter, it would be perfect.

Been carrying my LM Monarch 300 for a while now, coupled with my SS Maratac AAA and Photon II on my keys and a Monarch 400 in my bag.

I just got a new light from Sawman along with the Photon, but I can't remember the maker.  It lives in my truck as it is a monster, it claims a 200 lumen rating, and I believe it!

As someone who changes what light I carry on a regular basis (though not as often as my MT, I admit) I thought I'd give this thread a kick into 2012. ;)

So today my Romisen RC-29 was doing most of the work, though I did also have my ThruNite T10 on my keys.

Funny you should bump this one. I was just looking at it again as Trunite has another one of those sales T10 or T20 +Ti for $30. And I'm not sure I'll be able to resist this time.

How has it been serving you so long? What do you think of the mode spacing? The very big jumps from +100 to 9 to 0,09 lumens worry me. It turns on in the last mode you left it in, right? How's the beam profile for you? Throw or flood? And anything else you might find interesting or worth saying would be highly appreciated. :D

Thanks :salute:

OK, lots of questions. :D

How has it been serving you so far?
very well, it's been in my pocket pretty much every day since I got it and I've been using it lots.

What do you think of the mode spacing?
Actually they seem to work really well, the high is plenty bright enough, the medium is fine for smaller spaces.  My only slight thing is that I've not found myself using the moon-mode, but that's more to do with what I tend to use my lights for I think.

It turns on in the last mode you left it in, right?
Yes it does, and it's the best feature on it I think.  I love the fact that I can just leave it in medium and I know that's what I'll get the next time I switch it on.

How's the beam profile for you? Throw or flood?
definitely more flood than throw and has a cool colour.

Anything else?
It's a crying shame that it doesn't come with a pocket clip, the one above is not original to the light and I've very happy I had something kicking around that fitted.  The split-ring attachment is well done; lets the light hang straight down if hung from a cord or whatever, but also is shaped to let it tailstand.  A little wobbly but still possible.  All-in-all it's a great light IMO. :)

Thanks, Gareth! :salute: It's all I didn't want to hear.   It sounds perfect for me :ahhh

Now only do I want an AA or CR123 version of it. I prefer rechargeable batteries and use or RCR123s isn't recommended in the T20 but lots of people still use them without problems.

On a totally unrelated matter, all this Trunite talk got me playing with my Ti. And it has no spring, and has a rubber ring around the + pole. And I had some QTC on my desk, ...  ;)

Sadly I don't think it will work. :(  The two stage switch is actually a kind of spring in itself; screw the head down and a piece of metal comes in contact with the + of the cell, keep twisting and that piece of metal bends slightly and makes a second contact on the underside of the metal piece.  Not sure I am explaining that very well.  I might well also be totally wrong and the QTC will work brilliantly. :D  Let us know.

Two is one and one is none - I have Fenix LD12 attached to my Compact's leather holster and iTP EOS A3 Ti in the front pocket. Very pleased with both lights.
