Wow, this thread got dropped a while ago :o

Time to bring it back to life I think.  Today, and for a good long time now, I've been carrying my Eagletac D25A Clicky on my keys.  Backed up with my 2xAAA LED Mini-Maglite in my organiser.
Hey Gareth, what's your thoughts on the 2xAAA led mini mag? JR
I had one and it accidentally got thrown away :( It was an awesome light though. Well worth the money :2tu:
I got the regular AA, but I changed a few things by upgrading a led and putting a defensive bezel on it and love it, but it's just for around the house, now I have a regular 2xAAA and think it's just so freaking cute, size wise it's good for a carry, very light weight, but brightness sucks! It's ok if totally pitch black and your eyes are set to the dark, but other then that it's worthless.
Here's a pic of the AA mag with the defensive bezel, the other one lit up is a surefire led, I would love to find one for the AAA if I end up getting one, that would look freaking cool! JR

Here's a pic of most of my lights, the one on the very bottom to the left is my sheath carry, and the one above it goes in my mini backpack/murse. JR

Depending on which version of the 2xAA LED you have, and how old it is, you might well find the 2xAAA LED is actually notably brighter.  It's certainly a step up from the version I have, though I believe the 2xAA LED has been updated since I got mine.  The LED tint is also much better than on my 2xAA, much less blue, though still on the cool side of white.

Physically it still feel like an incandescent 2xAAA, light, neat and slim.  My only tiny quibble with it is that the focus isn't all that great, does a good spot all right, but the flood is still pretty tight.  Only one light mode of 84 Lumen, but I'm OK with that. :)

The two AA led or norm are two big for what I'm looking for, but the 2AAA is nice but just too dull, but I figured an led 2AAA might be just right.. JR

Still carrying my 2xAAA LED mini-maglite, still rather liking it.  I agree that the 2xAA is a little large for casual carry, but the much smaller 2xAAA is far neater and lighter.

I've been rather busy moving house for the last while (decluttering, packing, moving, unpacking etc) and so I've been solely relying on what I've had on my keyring; my NW Thrunite Ti3.  It's been more than capable of what I've been asking of it, being bright enough to find my way around a new garden at night, look for things in the bottom of packing boxes, finding stuff under sofas, hooking up TV's etc etc.

The only thing I'd change really is that I'm not sure I like the moonlight mode being quite so low, it has it's uses I know, but seeing where you are going isn't one of them. ;)  My taste would be for something just a little bit brighter.

Used and abused NiteCore D10. Just finished a emitter swap with a warm white XP-G2, really happy with the sunny tint.

I've decided to dig out a couple of less used lights from my stockpile; an older Thrunite T10 (twisty not clicky switch) and the even older Jetbeam Jet-1 Pro V3.0.  The Pro V3.0 is a top notch light that just oozes quality and, with it's programmable levels, can be pretty much any kind of light you want it to be. 8)

Had my Fenix PD35, Streamlight Microstream C4, Mag XL100, Mag Pro + LED, and on older LED Mini Mag on me today.  The last one may or may not be carried on any given day, but the first four are always there.

That's one well used light! :D  I had my eye on the D10 when it came out but never did pull the trigger on one.  Shame really, I've since come to like compact 1xAA lights very much and this has to be one of the earlier ones.

I'm still using my trusty old Leatherman Monarch 300.  I can't find a cost effective light that I like better.  If anyone has any suggestions I'm open to trying them.  I rely on this light so much that if I ever lost it I would truly be lost.  I would love a back up.

Pelican 1920. Lovely little 2xAAA - that I found out about on this site of course. :-) Having a low mode is really a great feature, especially since, with a pen light, I feel like you're more likely to be up close to whatever you're looking at. Much cheaper (in price) than a Preon but still feels very solid and tough. Maybe a bit too thick and heavy, but rides nicely in the jeans pocket. The only thing I would change is to start in low mode instead of high.

Sent from a small screen.

May it be as the Pattern has chosen.

Neutral T10
Neutral T20
Christmas Ltd Ed Ti

The first time you did this to me  :twak: I got the old style twistie T10 and T20, and both came with a free Ti. I must admit I was very happy with them too. Very good value. The T20 now lives in the glovebox of the car, the T10 stays clipped to my black pioneer and Style PS as a fixed "trio", and the Ti gets occasional carry with a celidor SAK and red Dime.

This time they have tail clickies, pocket clips and the lantern attachments ... I had to go for it :-[

Gareth, I think you would appreciate the electro-mechanical properties of the piston drive D10. Easily upgraded and not picky about battery chemistry. So many of these came from NiteCore with horrible QC and/or adjustments that there are leagues of folks who can't stand them. I have fixed several of these lights that had the simplest of flaws, such as led driver not seated and tightened completely, etc. But I don't blame buyers for not wanting to reassemble and tune a brand new light. :(   The principle of operation for these lights is very sound and extremely reliable when properly executed, too bad NiteCore was not overly concerned with consistant QC and assembly.
I'm saving to have a stainless steel replacement body machined for this D10.
