Well, as soon as my MT arrives, I'll test it. Sure my wife gonna be very impressed that I bough a can opener... that size, at that price  :D

Hope to have the results soon.

Hi,

well, test done. The result is not so bad in my opinion. Of course not as clean as the "old" design can opener work. It looks like a circular saw disc, regular.
So I get the same result than you get.

As it does the job, I cannot complain, and as I'm used to opens can with a combat knife, the result is definitely nicer because more regular, but not as different as with my Kabar knife.

And by the way, I was using the "regular method" : going clockwise. press the tool on the can, make a cut of about 5-6 mm, then move the opener 5-6mm clockwise, press to make a cut, etc. It was fast, efficient.

I can & do use both to more or less the same effect (getting at sweet, sweet, ananas)

I'm glad of them (either style) to be honest, I always struggled with the cog-wheel twisty ones.

Well maybe that's why it didn't work out so well.  This design seems to require that you use it counter clockwise. So you only punch the first hole then you keep cutting the edge all the way around.  The way you describe seems to punch a hole each time you move the cutter so that's why the edge is jagged.  I'll need to try it out.  I've used this type of can opener before and, while it wasn't perfect, it made a cleaner cut than what is shown here.

I think we both have to try something. ;)
For my part, I'll try not to punch new hole every time, and open the can counterclockwise...
In the other hand, having a jagged edge is not a problem for me.

But I agree, we need to find the best way to use that tool.

I think it's crap whatever way you use it. But the most important thing is that you can use it to open a can, it just dosen't do as good job as the old design.
There is no problem that cannot be solved by the use of high explosives.

Its technically a multitool as it also has a bottle opener on it. Its made in the USA and used by NASA.
