Is that pineapple? The can looks like it says "xxxana" as in banana.
Ananas is Norwegian too? It´s the same word in German. Interesting. Anyways, I guess the new design has to be sharpened, for it looks like a Victorinox clone, and that opener works well - but the other direction, so forward opening not backwards like with the old design. BTW: I never tried LM can openers, are they working well? They do not look so, but I may be wrong.

Apparently the word "ananas" comes from the word "nanas" which means "pine" in some Brazilian dialect. Hence ananas translates to pine-apple.
The older style can opener is exactly like LM's.. I wonder.......
I am a person that use the can openers on my multitools very often and after I have gone back to EDC my SOG’s after a period with Leatherman I am very disappointed with the new style can opener that SOG have made.

Look at the video Gareth posted (he beat me to it). I've used this type of can opener before and never had a problem like yours.By the way, I'm new around here.
I have used it both ways and it still is cr@p, it’s even worse using it when pushing away from you.
Per wikipedia, Ananas is the fruit's original name (of Brazilian origin). I looked it up as we have the same word in Greek too.
Well both were originally designed by Victorinox so...
QuoteWell both were originally designed by Victorinox so...How do you figure the LM can opener was designed by Victorinox? The LM can opener is a traditional design that looks nothing like Vic's..
