Hey guys.  I know alot of people love the newest, latest, locking, one handed, super steel tactical pocket knife.  However, does anyone still carry a simple, old school, traditional slipjoint?  I carry a Case Peanut all the time.  It is my EDC, and small as it is, it has never not been able to handle a cutting chore of mine, even when that cutting chore was skinning a 15 foot crocodile at work.  Small, sturdy, simple, and dependable.  I love slippies.
Does anyone else?

I am always within reach of a trusty Schrade Old Timer usually in a stockman pattern.  :salute:

I have a Case Peanut somewhere  However i'm going to make a thread about an experiment i've had in mind following your minimal thing. So i'm just going to carry a simple pocket knife like a 2 Layer SAK or the Solo or my new Colt stockmen when it gets here. OR (if i can find it) my Peanut. I also have a box of Shrade fruit knives with a very thin long blade,i might try carrying that.

The Peanut is the little knife that can.  I have Canoes, Stockmans (stockmen?), Sodbusters, Trappers, SAKs, etc., but the one knife that sees the most pocket time is my Case Bone Stag Peanut.  The thin blades get awfully sharp.  Like a good Opinel (wish I had one of those).  It cuts like a razor.  I use the Main blade for general cutting, and the pen blade for more dirty work.  Work that might dull the blade badly like scraping, poking, picking, etc., goes to the pen, even though I keep it razor sharp as well.  It is tiny and unassuming, which comes in really handy nowadays, what with sheeple all up in arms about knives and what not.  Noone bats an eye when I pull it out to use it.  In fact, most either say it's cute, or say something along the lines of "Hey, my grandpop had one of these!!"  It handles 99% of what I need cut, and the other 1% is taken care of with a bit of ingenuity.  I know some don;t like them, since they have no drivers, can openers, etc., but since I have a screwdriver on my keychain, and a can opener in my wallet, I needn't have those on my knife.  Plus, I like dedicated tools.  I mean, I am a HUGE fan of multitools, but there's just something absolute about a dedicated tool.  A peanut does what it's supposed to.  CUT.  And cut very well.  It is a bit scratched up, and the Stag burn marks on the bone are a bit faded (completely gone from one side), but that only adds character.  I love my Peanut.

Exactly right.

I have old Case, Camillus, and Buck slipjoints that I haven't carried in years, even though some are sentimental favorites.

Love their looks and they tend to be better for whittling, but SAKs beat them handily for all round practicality.

Plus, for years now I've always EDCed some kind of one hand opening blade.

Between always carrying a SAK and a OH blade, the old slipjoints have been crowded out of my EDC.

Definitely a fan of slippies in general. They are legal here too which is always a bonus!
However, I'm more in to the SAK or OH types too for carry  :)

Somewhere I have a Boker congress, and Camillus stockman .The best of both worlds would be if Victorinox would enter the tradtional slipjoint market with bone handled patterns like a canoe, traper or stockman.

I've long drooled over knifecoop's stuff. http://www.knifecooperative.com/

I do like a traditional slippy and I have a few, but like most here the red Cellidor has stolen my allegiance forever.  :climber:
