I got a SA watch at a local store for ~300 USD, with eBay price being 200 and the original price claimed by seller to be around 600. Overall, I was extremely pleased with the purchase.
On the first evening of staring, I discovered the bezel had been scratched up.
Look to the left of the 20. Yeah, isn't it awful?Horrified, I headed back over to the store and demanded an explanation. They offered to send it in to the Israeli service center for replacement. Seeing how I work in the same area, I volunteered to stop by on my own.
Upon arrival, the agent asked me what the problem was. Seeing the watch, he asked how much I had paid for it. He then explained to me the watch was discounted
because of the scratches, which the seller may or may not have known. He proceeded to claim mine was the last Maverick II in Israel* and the model is discontinued, though he can offer me an uphill replacement at extra charge. I did not want a replacement.
To make it up to me, the agent produced this:

He also allowed me to take a picture of their gigantic display cases, under the condition I was not to post it online (which kind of defeats the purpose, but oh well) and offered a 50% discount on future repairs should I decide to replace the bezel altogether.
I'm not quite sure what to make of this, seeing as the price
was lower than I expected. Did I just get screwed by Vic, or was the whole thing fair on their part?
*To be fair, he did say there was another one in another store. I had previously ordered from both, but the "other" one brought in an orange model and refused to work with me to resolve the issue.
