I'm preparing to go to work with my newly aquired Wave :multi:

.....also taking the PST II(always in my bag), Minichamp, and the CORE for backup in case I need something heavy duty.

I use both my ALX and Vic CT34 on a daily basis for at least 5 or 6 cutting tasks.  The blade on my Charge is really scary sharp.  I got one with date codes of 0307, and the difference in quality from then to now is obvious.  Mine is actually polished in some areas and the f&f is top notch, even for LM.  No comments needed on the CT34 and it's perfection, Vic track record speaks for itself!

I was at our national team meeting on Tuesday with an evening meal and much drink   :drink:

For the evening meal I just took my Micra down with me not expecting much use. At everybody's place they had two unopened bottles of beer and opened wine bottles at the table  :tu:

Needless to say I was a great hit as I was opening all the bottles at our table and tables close by  :ahhh :drink: :ahhh

Do you think I should send my lifesaving story in to Leatherman? :D

Needless to say I am very impressed.  The new plier head is simply a marvel of engineering and a BIG step up from the core/surge model.  I am loving the removable wire cutters; On my new pre-owned wave there is a dent in the hardwire notch, this could easily be remedies if they were removable.  I bought this thing pre-owned but the seller should just have listed it as LNIB cuz there is absolutely no wear, nor signs of use.  Still very stiff and feels really solid. Also the tool load out is MUCH more diverse than the core! ::)

Now for the on-the-fence parts.  I am not too crazy about the clumping system.  The blades are very hard to get out, I am sure this loosens with time so I won't fret. When closed the top seems to fan out and create sharp edges.  When I tap it, the blade(I think) vibrates against the body and makes a small rattling noise- anyone else have this?  I use a rescue tool sheath for my core and the new cut outs don't fare well when I put it in, as there is NO wiggle room with the core to begin with(I like it that way :) ).  Cut outs- they make it very easy to reach the blades but the clumping system negates that ease...   I also am not sure about my hands digging the blade with heavy squeezing...?

Last thing- People say the core wasn't built for heavy use but the ST300 is...  If they mean plier head, definitely.  Otherwise I hear "the handle steel is thicker."  I did a side by side comparison with the Core and if there is a difference, its the size of a human hair, very thin human hair. And whatever thickness it seems to add, the cutouts probably take away. I personally prefer the Core handles myself.

Soryy for the long-winded comments, its not usually my style but Core vs Supertool 300 is a topic I have read much disagreement about

I used my LM c301 and Sideclip to install the batteries in my Sonic Screwdriver.  There's something rather pleasing about that.

I've not got any rattling in either of mine Kmarr, can you be more specific about what you think might be loose and rattling? I express surprise at this, as the ST300 locking mechanism seems tighter than the Core's, and there's decent resistance from the backspring on both of mine. Not snap like a SAK, but something approaching it, and that should serve to stop any looseness or rattling I would have thought

As for the "selective clumping", you'll get used to it, but the trick basically is to pull out the file or the saw to lift the middle tools like the drivers, can opener, awl etc - I find that it works brilliantly.

I don't know who said that, but I certainly wouldn't. The Core was one of the toughest tools on the market, and in my experience could be abused all day without worry (so I did - often :D). The ST300 pliers are certainly heavier duty, but I would never suggest that the Core was a light duty tool - it's a beast! Much stronger than the Surge I reckon, with less flexing when you really torque the drivers of are cutting something big!

I used to come here a lot.

Davek- The rattling isn't noticible unless I hold it and tap it with my finger, or pretty much anything.  The core had the liner so This would never happen. The ST300 has the rounded edges with no buffer in the middle so the blade vibrates on the part of the handle that is curled over.  It might be that my blade is a hair closer to the edge at the tip than the base. Prob just a QC thing, nothing I'm worried or angry over.

The tool clumping is a good idea if you have gloves on in the winter or you trim your nails. I'd say its a good idea cuz my first MT was a powerlock and I'm used to it :D

I investigated the differences in pliers of the ST300 and the Core. More flexing in the core and I think its in the pliers.  The ST300's head is much thicker and resists the flexing. Another possible reason is that the ST300 plier "locking point" is much smaller and doesn't give much room for bending.  However that would only effect it very slightly IMO.

Yeah, it felt pretty awesome. Thankfully I hit at an angle so it didn't cut straight down. Probably would have it the knuckle bone if I had. Instead it went sorta across the top of the knuckle, didn't even bleed really, but went pretty deep. "just a flesh wound" indeed.

Yesterday actually, but who's counting: I stopped by my Mom's place and she and my step-dad were working on putting up a new picket fence to replace the old wire one. First use of the Spirit was she needed me to cut some of the old wire fence off of some sort of decoration/fence post made out of rebar welded together into a sunflower. At least I think that's what it was supposed to be.... Anywho! It was the first time I ever cut anything with the Spirit's wire cutter. Gotta say I was very impressed. It was some really thick burly stuff, and the Spirit went through it like it was a paperclip. Repeatedly. I was really surprised actually. A bit later on I had to remove a Phillips screw. It didn't slip :)

I just finished taking down and dis-mantling an old TV antenna with my Swisstool X.  I'm scared of heights, the roof had a steep pitch, and I was happy I didn't have to lug several tools up on the roof.  I used the biggest screwdriver, the pliers, the wirecutters, and the metal saw.
