I was at our national team meeting on Tuesday with an evening meal and much drink For the evening meal I just took my Micra down with me not expecting much use. At everybody's place they had two unopened bottles of beer and opened wine bottles at the table Needless to say I was a great hit as I was opening all the bottles at our table and tables close by Do you think I should send my lifesaving story in to Leatherman?

I used my wave to open a package.........containing a SUPERTOOL 300!!
Needless to say I am very impressed. The new plier head is simply a marvel of engineering and a BIG step up from the core/surge model. I am loving the removable wire cutters; On my new pre-owned wave there is a dent in the hardwire notch, this could easily be remedies if they were removable. I bought this thing pre-owned but the seller should just have listed it as LNIB cuz there is absolutely no wear, nor signs of use. Still very stiff and feels really solid. Also the tool load out is MUCH more diverse than the core! Now for the on-the-fence parts. I am not too crazy about the clumping system. The blades are very hard to get out, I am sure this loosens with time so I won't fret. When closed the top seems to fan out and create sharp edges. When I tap it, the blade(I think) vibrates against the body and makes a small rattling noise- anyone else have this? I use a rescue tool sheath for my core and the new cut outs don't fare well when I put it in, as there is NO wiggle room with the core to begin with(I like it that way ). Cut outs- they make it very easy to reach the blades but the clumping system negates that ease... I also am not sure about my hands digging the blade with heavy squeezing...?Last thing- People say the core wasn't built for heavy use but the ST300 is... If they mean plier head, definitely. Otherwise I hear "the handle steel is thicker." I did a side by side comparison with the Core and if there is a difference, its the size of a human hair, very thin human hair. And whatever thickness it seems to add, the cutouts probably take away. I personally prefer the Core handles myself.Soryy for the long-winded comments, its not usually my style but Core vs Supertool 300 is a topic I have read much disagreement about

Tried using the serrated Spirit blade to open some mail. Opened the top of my finger instead.
used the ST300 to put a birds house up outside, was up the ladder and had my drill and the ST300, had to use the ST to knock the rawplug in ,so thats 20 features not 19 paul
