Well I had to setup a couple of PCs for some guys starting work for me today, so my Charge, Prybaby and Serac S3 all got a great workout opening things and pulling cables etc.

I used to come here a lot.

Skeletool - removing window screens for winter - generally prying, cutting rope and foam for winterizing a sailboat. Prying up a very thin layer of ice from a fiberglass deck.

Squirt - opening boxes from fed-ex, splinter removal.

I seem to not get a lot of use out of my multitools but that's okay - they're there to be there anyway. :D

So... somehow... at my shared apartment on campus. Someone had closed the bathroom door and it had somehow locked itself. I don't know how this happened. :D

At any rate, we were lucky as the lock is the type that just prevents the knob from turning and doesn't actually bolt anything. So I took my trusty pocket prybar out and was able to hook it around the latch and jimmy it open. :D

I also had Wagglepog on me but I didn't wanna get him dirty. =o
Got those frog legs.

My Charge Ti was pretty handy with the wardrobe building exercise today - knife for opening irritating little packets and driver bits for fixings.

Perhaps if I had kept away from the hammer, it might have gone to plan  ::)

Big day for the skelee. Had to winterize the sailboat so lots of rope cutting, tape cutting, and some various packages to open. Working up on a ladder, so the pocket clip and single handed opening came in handy.

Then putting fence around some small trees to keep the deer from eating them. Wire cutters cut several sections of chicken wire, and pliers to wire it all together. Those wire cutter work really well.

Here are the things I did with my Spirit X on Saturday:

  • used the blade to cut a section of leaking hose and the screwdriver to repair it with a new clamp
  • used the saw to cut some pencils in half and pry/scraper tool to sharpen them. The smaller pencils will be going into some PSKs
  • used the wire cutters to trim the guitar strings we replaced on my son's Gibson SG electric guitar

Lent the knifeless Fuse to an EA for a side craft project for a period. I had to ask her trice to get it back. She found the small scissors better and more precise then the large standard pair she was using. Likewise, she loved the pliers for hot gluing without burning her fingers. She was making small Christmas snowmen out of socks, popcorn, etc for a fund raiser.

Note to self, be careful who I lend the little Fuse to or I may not get it back.  :o :ahhh

Well-done mate it's always nice to be able to show others just how handy a good multi is but, as you say, make sure you get it back. :)

Used the Phillips on the Charge to fix a display / stand ready for a conference we're doing next week, and the Business tool for some stapling.

I used to come here a lot.

Went out to eat and got a big turkey leg. Wifey-poo wanted to cut the meat off so I whipped out my Kick and started carving on it. Of course this being the Ozarks no one even batted an eye. This was a few days ago. Have used my Farmer to cut and open the usual stuff. Hopefully this weekend I'm gonna install a sliding door between my kitchen and the back room so I'm sure I'll be using several of my MT's.

I used the pry tool from my Spirit X to open up a box containing a LCD TV for my youngest daughter that we bought for her today for her room. I used the Phillips screwdriver in the Spirit to tighten the four screws for the base stand it sat in.

Just as a side note/heads up to everyone, always use your multi's pliers when opening a cardboard box that has the big brass staples....One time I opened a box simply by pulling on the cardboard and one of the staples came rocketing at my head and hit me in the eye, thankfully no damage was done.

Thanks Blackbeard. I should have been more clear. I used the sharp tip of the pry tool to slice the tape that was securing the box. There were no staples. I appreciate the tip.

I know I have been missing for a while, but I am still here in spirit! Been working the SURGE hard these days, repaired and winterized my boat motor, fixed several fences at my buddies farm, installed some cabinetry, replaced a door... and then the normal odd jobs and cutting tasks.  :tu:

Thinking about posting a full length review of my time with the Surge, what I like/dislike, you know. Not sure about it though...

Putting my ST300 through it's paces, loving it so far.

First I used the saw to take down about a dozen branches, some about 1.5" thick.  Ate through them with no flex in the saw and a solid lockup.  The bigness and heft of the tool worked great with gloves while sawing.

Secondly I used the Phillips to unscrew the filter inside my dryer.

I used the AWL on my Farmer to drill a hole. I needed to make a makeshift clothesline and was putting in an eyehook. I haven't handled every multi-tool but among the ones I have handled the Alox line gets the nod for, IMHO of course, best all around AWL. I also used the can opener on a can of Campbell's chicken noodle soup. The small cans have the ring that you can use to pop off the lid but the big cans still need a can opener.
