Newbie saying hi
on: July 15, 2009, 04:11:39 PM
I tried to send this earlier today but lost the bloody internet connection! appologies if this is already posted, if not, here goes again.............Hello to everyone!! I'm a new member to these forums, but I have been reading your posts for a while now, before plucking up the nerve to join in! I feel I know many of you already from my many hours looking through and often laughting at your conversations/verbal duelling/friendly p*** taking and chats! From all across the globe, brilliant. I have a small colection/selection of multi's, LM, Gerber, SAK's and today took delivery of a Vic Swisstool X. I plan to get a Vic Spirit X as well, but I am going to the USA in a couple of months so may leave it till then. So I officialy ask to become a member of your club and look foreward to many hours of keyboard companionship and making some new friends, as you all seem to be.BTW, I know you have all given some personal details in the past, so here's a few on me..........name..Rob, age..well I'm 45 for another two months, as the young'ns would say! Job.. tube station manager on London Underground (16yrs), "married with children"! Now I'm itching to join in!!
It seemed like a good idea at the time.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys! Thanks Benner for your help, I was wondering where my post went, thought I did something wrong as I'm really c*** with computers! Thats why I like tools/gadgets so much........those I can understand! I am already familier with most of your names. One thing I would like to say, I joined you guys on line because you talk about so many interesting subjects, not just MT's, that just seems to be the catalyst for your friendships to start, after that you all seem to "bond" as a group, talking, giving support and encouragment to each other on so many things......I like that, and I'm looking foreward to becoming a part of it. Give and take....in the nicest possible way!!                                                Rob

Yes, it can be pretty stressful, any job dealing with the great travelling public (or even static ones for that matter!) can be. It can also be incredibly boring too! Especialy on nightes. An old saying we have on LUL, "your not paid for what you do, but for what you may have to do", and believe me, I have!

No problems spending on shiney things! Or "more useless rubbish" as my wife is always telling me! Women mate, they just dont get it. "He who has the most shiney things when he dies wins"!!! But what I've seen of some of you're guys collections I've no chance of that!  So far I've a Vic Swisstool X, Vic work champ, Vic camper, 5x Vic classics, Vic mini champ,Vic signature, LM Wave, LM Supertool (original vintage), LM squirt, LM juice S2, Gerber crux, Buck Hunter folder, Moira training fixed blade, Gerber, LED Lenser, Maglite torches (several of each), and several air weapons. And probably some other stuff I cant remember right now! And, of course, adding to it all the time! Why? Because I can!!!

No offence meant to the fairer sex! I have been reading posts in this, and other, forums, for several months now, and I know there are many women who post on these sites and enjoy all of this just as much as any guy, which is exactly as it should be. And I'm sure many of them could put me to shame with their collections and knowledge, together we stand brothers....and sisters. I respect all.

Nuphoria..........myth disspeled! Pleasure to "speak" to you, thank you for your warm welcome. Neil........believe it or not the tool I carry most and use most, is the smallest, my Vic classic. As I'm always in a public environment I cant really carry anything larger on show. I also carry my LM juice S2 in a pocket or belt pouch, depending on what uniform jacket/top I am wearing. Generaly I try to swop my MT or SAK's around every so often, to give them all a bit of use. I like to look after my stuff, so even tool/knives that are many years old still look like new. I admit I'm a bit anal in that department!!  Rob

Hiya all, yep, the LM juice s2 is a fine multi, basic, but in reality it has on it what I probably use on a daily basis. It also has a non locking blade, a legal neccessity here in the UK,so if you forget to take it off before you leave work you can legaly have it on you, which also makes it ok for EDC here.
It seemed like a good idea at the time.

Sadly the legality has to be the primary concern for edc these days :-\
