Is this normal?
on: July 19, 2009, 10:04:55 PM
Hey Guys,

I need your help. A couple of days ago, I got a second Mora 2000 (Mora of Sweden stamp), but as soon as I had it on my hands, I noted something funny : the blade looked shorter and thinner. Well, when i got home, i took my first one (KJ Ericsson stamp), and compared both.

New one on top, old one in the bottom

New one in the left, old one in the right

As you can see in the pictures, the new one has a shorter blade (3 mm aprox.), and is waaaay thinner. The question is: Is this normal? New Moras come like this? or Did I get a defective one? Thanks for your help!  :salute:

I'm not a Mora expert, and don't have any on hand right now, but I LOVE the fact that the blade is thinner.   :tu:  A thin blade = a better cutter.  As for it being shorter, it isn't THAT much shorter, so I wouldn't really worry about it too much.  Then again, it is YOUR knife.    If you don't like it, send it back.  It's up to you, man.

i like both blades.......... i use a mora for wood carving and mine has a thick blade. good for removing heavey material but not good for detail. i think both are fine.

I haven't heard of any changes, but I don't really keep track of that kind of knife these days.  I think that looks a bit to thin for my tastes though.

I'm here! it's not normal! I wonder if one (new one) was redone (returned or had a flaw in the initial making) and over-done/fixed! who knows and they'd never tell you.

But... like the others have said it's kinda cool and might be a sweet/more efficient user.

I personally would write/email them back and show them pictures, but I would keep it! Maybe you could get a deal on your next purchase and that would be cool!

Thakns WD! Well, I already measured both, and the old one was 114.5 mm and the new one was 111 mm, so I'm guessing that, as you said, it had some issue and was redone. I'm going to email the customer service and ask them (pictures included). Thanks again!  :tu:
