Iphone case review: Capsule Rebel
on: July 18, 2009, 02:36:51 PM
Hi all,
I am just so loving this case and the holster that I just had to share.  Pics will follow later.
Ive had my iphone for 3 months.  In those three months I have gone through 6 cases.  The front runner for lack of anything else for several weeks was the Otterbox Defender.  That thing rocks but it really takes away from the phone because it so bulky and the holster which is supposed to be ultra secure is not.
But, then I perused Youtube and after watching dozens of videos I decided to try the Switch Easy Capsule Rebel.  This thing is awesome.  I never dropped my phone before I got it, but since i did I have dropped it twice (while taking it out of my pocket...my fault nothing to do with the case), it's been bumped a lot in my pocket, and was in my bag when I fell off my bike and landed on my back with the bag under me.  It protected the phone flawlessly.
The case is actually two main parts:  A silicone skin and a hard plastic "spine" that adds a funky striped look to the phone.  Neither one separately would do anything for the phone, but together it is tough and solid.  And Switcheasy provides a dock and headset plug to protect those areas.  Very cool.
Now the holster is really cool.  At first it doesn't feel like it would hold the phone, but you can't shake that thing out of there unless you really, really try.  And it's a breeze to remove to answer a call.  The belt clip swivels 180 degrees to put it in any position you want.  It's made out of really hard plastic with rubber corners that hold the phone tight but allow for easier removal and placement in the holster.  Well thought out design.
The otterbox is still the ultimate in Iphone protection, but this case is really really good for everyday non extreme situations.  Yes, it has a couple of areas of improvement: specifically the fact that the very bottom of the case has a tendency to be a little flimsy and "sag" but that is fixable.  I highly recommend this case if anybody is looking for one.  You can find them in a variety of places and in a variety of colors.  It will grab attention though.
So, that's my review.  Hope it was ok

Here's some Flickr pix (not mine) http://www.flickr.com/photos/reemixx/sets/72157606585667648. So Grayson, the screen has the protective skin but no other cover? Looks really nice.

Sorry it took me so long to respond to this.  No, it doesn't have any other protective cover but it's still pretty cool.  I finally got the belt clip Vision Clip II and it is so very very nice.  I also use those screen covers from Apple that are smudge and fingerprint resistent.  I love it.
