Apparently I'm crazy

Hi all,
Thought I'd share this little tidbit with all of you.
Last night at work, one of my coworkers brought me some veggies from her garden. Well a fresh from the garden cucumber was just more temptation than I could handle, so I went into the break room, pulled my Pulse out, opened the blade, and proceeded to devour said cucumber...cutting slices and eating them. One of my other coworkers came in, saw me eating the cucumber and asked for a slice. I said "Sure, here" and sliced off a piece and handed it to her. She saw the Pulse and said, "What the h*ll is that?" I said, "A multitool, you want this or not?" She said I was crazy for carrying around something like that. I asked why. She said because it's a "stupid" thing to have when I really wouldn't ever have a use for it. I just stared at her, ate the slice of cucumber I'd offered her and sliced another. She shook her head and left. I thought I'd found a very good use for it just then.

It was very tasty.
Later, she told someone else about the Pulse and I walked up on the conversation. Fortunately, the person she told knows me very well. She just laughed and said, "Was that the only one you had today?" I grinned and replied, "Nope, but it was the handiest at the moment." We laughed at the other girl because he hadn't a quarter clue what we were talking about. I love messing with people at work, especially people who think I'm nuts because I have a pocket knife and/or a MT. They don't know what to make of it and it's fun to watch them try. So, that's my short tale. It was pretty funny last night.

I hope she doesn't complain to someone. HR departments have a poor sense of humor when it comes to these kinds of things and others have gotten in trouble in the past for carrying dangerous, lethal sets of pliers.

I don't think she wants to get me in trouble. In fact, if she did go to HR she'd be risking her job too. She's one of those prissy little...anyway, she's always insulting me, harassing me etc because she thinks I'm not a "girl girl". Won't bore you with the details, but I don't think she'll report anything. She just likes to think that she's better than me and takes every opportunity she can to try to make me feel bad about myself. Girls really do suck sometimes!

It was funny when my other coworker just laughed at her and brushed it off...she didn't know what to do with that.

Tsk tsk, that would probably be the last time she's offered food cut using a retired MT, and she turned it down. I hope you get to fix something for her sometime soon, maybe get her out of a jammed cubicle in the restroom. That'll be the best way to show her.

Sounds like she is just insecure with herself. So you did your good deed for the day propping her up on that high horse of hers. My wife is a girly girl she is always impressed when she sees me using one of my multi tools. She might make a comment like buying all those is finely starting to pay off. Ha Ha Her last birthday i included a pink breast cancer awareness classic SAK she likes it very much. Only problem is now all five of my daughters want one.

What a dispicable use for a fine multitool. Carry it where you like, eat what you like, excapt cucumber.

If you hadn't guessed I'm not a fan of cucumber, tastes vile to me. $:-\$

back to your story though, you'll always find those who don't get folks like us who carry tools. As I have pointed out to non-knife people before (not that it helps much) we'd still be swinging in trees if it wasn't for three things:
1) the ability to hit things hard (a rock/hammer).
2) the ability to burn things (fire).
3) the ability to cut things (flint/knife).

On these three tools civilisations were built. Being able to open a nice bottle of Chablis helps too though.

She sounds like a real idiot, I wish people would learn to leave other people alone and accept that not everyone needs to be exactly like them

Okay, a little update to this story:
Last night, I was training a new guy who just back from Iraq in April. We were talking about something and it reminded me of the one the Gerber Multitool ads in another thread. I told him about it and we were laughing. That led to a discussion about MT's and he asked if I had any. I told him I had the Juice and the Wave and Pulse. He got really excited about the Pulse so we went to the break room and I got it out and showed it to him. That same, (bleep) from last night came in when I pulled it out and when we started discussing it she says "Oh yeah, I carry one of those in my bag all the time." I knew she was being a (bleep) so I said, "Really, that's awesome. Want the address of the forum I frequent so you can talk about your tool and maybe get some more?" The guy laughed and she just rolled her eyes and turned to leave. Before she did she said, "You're such a guy!"
Well, the guy I was talking to turned to me, hardly believing she said that, looked me up and down then grinned and said, "I don't think so!" We both laughed.

She doesn't have a man and I'm off the market, so that won't work. And I'm pretty vengeful myself, in theory. I thought about booby trapping her locker or connecting the dots on her precious Coach purse...but I figured that would get me in a lot of trouble.

Sounds like you have the perfect opportunity to rise above it and prove yourself to be the better person.

From what you are saying it rather sounds like your colleagues already know her for the type of person she is.

When I first started to work at my current job 9 years ago, those types thought I was fair game. I soon disabuse them of that notion. Now they give me a wide birth...and I am content. I ignore them, and they actively ignore me.

I don't even like watching game playing from a distance.

Reading this thread i learned a lot of things:

Don't cross anyone that posts on this forum

You need four basic things you need
1 the ability to hit things hard (rock or hammer)
2 the ability burn things (fire)
3 the ability to cut things (flint/knife)
4 the ability to open a bottle of Chablis (cork screw)

Her ex wouldn't know which end of a pair of pliers to pick up! HE regularly got waxed, plucked and baked! I met him once and apparently I made an impression. She told me he didn't know how to take "someone like me"...I told her, "Well, let me know the next time he comes to visit you here and I'll make sure to unstrap the hump on my back." Honestly, guys, I promise I am NOT a knuckle dragging, grunting, hairy, unclean, tobacco spitting, mountain girl. She's just...Arghhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!
