My missus and daughter quite liked it. They thought the little prawn was cute!

I wish they'd used a bit more of the SFX budget to hire better writers...

Lol.
I sort of got the feeling that it started off as a sort of politically motivated idea about apartheid, but then sort of escalated into an action film
I used to come here a lot.

It was written by niel blomkamp who also directed it. He's from south africa so obviously aparthied was a big part of his life. Its actually a scaled up version of a short film he made several years ago. When he was in college I believe. Peter jackson liked the idea so much that he hired blomkamp to do the full scale version. Blomkamp was originially supposed to direct the now cancelled Halo ovie that jackson was producing.

I liked the part when Spengler, Venkman , Stantz, and Winston and the gatekeeper and the keymaster and Slimer crossed the streams.

I enjoyed the movie immensely, I'm going to watch it again soon on blu-Ray.
The movie was refreshingly different from the start.

It did nothing for me. It was not all that great, and I was immensely disappointed with the film.
I will see Avatar when it comes out on Blueray, but several people have already told me it is a Fern Gully remake in a different setting. That doesn't sound all that great

I liked Avatar- it was a good movie, and yeah, it was like Fern Gully for adults, but there are so few movies these days that have any kind of originality.
I saw the movie in 3D at the theater (not IMAX) and I really liked it. 3D has come a long way since I saw Swamp Thing in 3D efin 1984 on TV, and that might have a lot to do with why I thought it was so impressive!

Haha you know when I was watching Avatar, Fern Gully was the first thing I thought of to lol. It's actually more like The Abyss meets Fern Gully, with a bit of Aliens and some "insert random mech anime" thrown in there. But believe me it is really good. While it's inspirations may be a bit obvious it all works very very well. I'd go see it again today if I could. For something that was so over-hyped I was expecting to be disappointed, but was surprised to find it actually lived up to the hype in my opinion.
