Question about a 'custom' mp-600
on: September 06, 2009, 08:34:27 PM
hey guys,

i've been really thinkin about gettin my hands on an mp-600 recently, but that lineup has quite a variety of options.  i was wondering if this combonation is possible to buy (I dont think it is) and if its not, is there anyone to make one from parts?

mp-600
bluntnose pliers
replaceable carbide inserts (not a selling point, what do you guys think, are these inserts good?)
FIRST HANDLE TOOLS
File
2 regular screwdrivers
bottle opener
fully serrated knife
SECOND HANDLE TOOLS
blade exchanger
philips driver
can opener
anything else (possibly replacing the lanyard?)

plus a tool kit that goes with the philips driver.

i know thats a pretty specific combo, but i cant seem to find that anywhere.

anyone able to build one of those for me? i'd be willing to trade  :tu:

Yep, the Build Your Own Gerber program unfortunately only lasted a very short time :(

In order to be certain of having the right tool for every job.........one must first acquire a lot of tools

I actually built my own custom BO '600.  It's only taken two tools so far.  If funding isn't too much of an issue, try trolling fleabay for gently used models and grab as few as possible, then just combine them into the tool you need.  Mine ended up taking a MP-600 needlenose with carbide, and one of the DET models with the blade exchanger.  The end result was pretty cool.  I also have a new, out-of-box '600 sportsman if you need a donor.  You can pm me about it.
