good on ya chief! did my story inspire you?
Hope you like it. I was seriously considering buying a plain edge CX but I think finances are going to prevent me from doing so.

I can't even imagine a salesperson at my local Walmart giving me, or anyone else, a price break. I wouldn't even think to ask, thinking they would think I was being a pest. Now after reading your story I may have to give it a try. I've worked retail in the past and everything is all about corporate policy. People would try to deal with me and there was nothing I could do. If you gave someone a break, it would be viewed upon the same as shoplifting. Sounds like luck was on your side. I would seek out that salesperson every time I was buying something there.
I remember seeing one of those "consumer" programs in the UK years ago, where they said you should haggle at all of the big stores. I was sceptical, until I learned that the manager of most big chain stores usually has a margin he's allowed to discount, and then he has a staff discount that he can pass on too, if he needs the sales to hit his targets. It works quite often actually, so I haggle for just about everything, especially the big stuff like TVs. Sometimes you might only get a few quid knocked off a 500 quid iitem, but it's become something of a principle now. What is there to lose?
Same over here for what it's worth. Bloody extended warranties too, and insurance that make the thing cost double. Apparently that's where all the profit is fo rthe "stack 'em high, flog 'em cheap" stores. They make next to nothing on the sale, but the extras are pretty much pure profit.
Hey ecfiffer, which VA hospital do you work at?
