I grew up in Burntwood - my Mom and Dad still live there.

It's only a small town, and I find myself wondering how close I've been to this stuff....
I used to come here a lot.

Oh!!! In otherwords, Staffordshire is now the Roswell of England ::)

Some run from breaks of ice, and answer none:
And some condemned for a fault alone." -William Shakespeare, King Lear (1608), Act IV, scene 6, line 169

Yeah, we're not exactly getting lots of details yet but it does sound exciting.  Three times as large as the Sutton Hoo find and I heard mentioned that there are a significant amount of weapon fittings. :)

You know, the thing of it is,

People are saying that it's going to revolutionize the way we think of Anglo-Saxon Britain and further, it may be the death blow to the term "Dark Ages".  There must be some extraordinary finds in that pile of dirt.  :ahhh

May have to have a little look-see this next May.... ;)

I think the term "Dark Ages" was pretty unfashionable in academic circles anyway, the Sutton Hoo find in 1939 pretty much put pay to the idea of the Britons farming mud and living in caves.  But if they think there is more to be had from this find it's pretty exciting.

Sorry, any excuse for a bit of Python. :D

I am just really glad that I work hard so my tax can help this "unemployed" bloke enjoy his days walking in the country side instead of seeking gainful employment.  I wonder if he will donate some of this money back to the coffers that supported his hobby  >:(

What's the tax rate on this sort of "windfall profits"?  In the US, I think he'd be facing 50% hit.
