Err, what the heck? cold steel sheath

So I have a cold steel bushman that I kept in my car, it has been in there a year or so and today I went to switch it for something else.

I took it inside and squeezed the sheath a bit hard then felt something crumble. I took out the knife and something fell out, it was part of the lining. I squeezed it a bit more and the whole thing fell out in bits, here's what's left of the sheath.

I know it's a cheap knife, but come on, the sheath should last for more than a year of sitting around unused...

Probably the extreme temp conditions in Canada caused the plastic to get brittle and crack.
Can you send it back to CS for a replacement?.

That's what I was thinking.

My Bushman sheath is well used and over a year old and is still as solid as day one.  It must be the temperature changes.

Nope it's velcroed to the roll bar in my jeep.

I duno, there are plenty of other plastic stuff in my vehicle, including pretty much the whole interior and roof, this is the first time I saw anything like this happen. Besides consider how piss poor jeeps are sealed from outside it probably doesn't get as hot inside as a passenger car would.

I don't think the sheath is warranted thou. Just noticed they have a forum now, I'll post there and see what people says.

Emailed cold steel's CS and got an response within 30 minutes offering a new sheath. Gotta say I'm quite impressed with their service.
