Starting to sound tempting. What are to tools on a sak farmer?
My first  EDC MT was a bucktool when I was a kid. I wore that out rather quickly. Got discouraged for a while but bought an old style wave. Not long after that the new wave came out and I upgraded to that and then the Surge when it came out.
Just recently I upgraded to the ST 300 for the same reason I upgraded every single time.......Wire cutters. One of side projects to have steady income on the farm is fencing. I build fence in the winter time. Not just that I guess. You're always building fence on the farm. Standard cutters get little bumps in the from cutting high tensile fencing wire. The new ST300s wire cutters are fantastic. I love the little ding sound it makes when cutting wire. Hasn't beat those up yet and when though do i can replace em!! The ST 300 really seems in place for a farmer. The main tool i need on a farm is pliers, serrated knife, awl, saw, file, and scissors. The only thing that bummed me was the lack of scissors. I slipped one of my micras into the side pocket and now im set. I liked the ST300 so much i bought a NOS original ST off ebay just for novelty purposes.
The farm is something I was born into of course and when I got out of school I bought a truck and trailer and started hauling livestock as a side job to have some steady income and have been on the farm ever sense.

Maybe I need that SAK farm now......

Welcome Farmer.  I agree, you need a SAK Farmer if for no other reason than it's your forum name and they are really cool.  The SAK Farmer has alox scales, main blade, wood saw, cap lifter/large flat screwdriver, can opener/small flat screwdriver and a fantastic awl.  And they're cool.  You also need a LM KF4...excellent little pocket MT.  LOL!  Welcome!

Was just looking through the leatherman retired tools. The KF4 is very tempting. Why is that the only retired Juice? Where was it I saw it that they were using drain cleaner or something to make them "naked" looking? I really prefer the old school SS look to the new colored versions. I'll get me a farmer off ebay soon just for kicks and to start a new addiction. Least I stay with the clean ones....... ;)

Sounds like that Supertool 300 is the perfect tool for you, when I started bailing hay (alfalfa) in the late 50's we used bailing wire, then upgraded to the twine, thats before they had the big round bails, sure wish I would have had a 300 back then.

I bought a Vic Soldier just because of the name, love the awl,so go ahead and get a Vic Farmer, you'll love it.

It doesn't make sense about the KF4, does it?  It had the best selection of tools offered in the Juice line in my humble opinion...  I guess it was too good so they had to retire it.

Welcome aboard Farmer!

Welcome Farmer  :tu:

Like your avatar.  Got a Ford 5600 and a 1710 on my little patch of land.

BTW, the blue alox farmers are a close match to Ford tractor blue (New Holland will always make me think of implements  ;))

When I was younger I worked alot for of farmers, rancher, feedlots so I `ve built alot of fence in my day. A ST300 would have been a nice tool to have had back then.  :D  I just got a KF4 and much to my surprize I really like it.

David sorry about the feed lots. Hope you wore some tall boots.Haha
Whippy. Your 5600 is one of the best tractors ever made out of every brand. We have a 5000 which is similar to a 5600 and a 7000 which is a 5000 with a turbo. We also have a Ford-New Holland 5640, a New Holland Tn-65 and TS-110. Im gonna keep my eyes out for a Ford blue Farmer on Ebay, sweet. Anyone got one to trade for a new freestyle?

Bad evening for me today. Was squirrel hunting and when I looked through my scope I realized what that loose sound I heard from my Ruger 10/22 was. I had somehow knocked the cross hairs out of the scope. Impatiently I pulled the first screwdriver out of my ST 300 to take the scope off the use open sights and it turned out to be the small one. I broke the end off it today.Totally my fault I guess but it snapped so easy with little to no force on it. Will be dropping her off in the mail tomorrow. Glad I bought me an original ST for backup!!
