I just sent my Charge TI in for service...
on: November 03, 2009, 08:07:54 PM
I bought another 2HO Charge TI in great condition recently, but I discovered that there was missing a little bit of metal on the wirecutter..
So I contacted Zippo Marketing here in Denmark and talked to a very nice guy, who said it would take 2 or 3 weeks before I get it back.
They got it today, so let the waiting begin...   :D  :D

Here's the "before" picture..:

Let us know how the service is.  I hate hearing that international LM repairs are substandard, when I know how well LM service works here in the US.

The warranty dept put a new head on my kick awhile back and it works great.  I know now that
hard wire cutters on multi's don't handle spring steel antenna wire all that well without leaving
damage.

I hope it gets there soon. Maybe Leatherman should build a 3-4 factories around the world for repairs. I don't think they'd have to be a huge deal. But I know nothing about the manufacturing aspect of MT's so basically I'm talking out of my ass to boost my post count.  :D :D

Seriously though, I hope you get it soon.  :tu:

Oop, sorry Allan, I missed this thread earlier. :-[ Hmmm, I've never seen a Leatherman chip out like that before. Usually the wire cutter is notched, because someone has tried to cut a wire that is harder than the plier material. (we've all seen that before right?) But in this case, the plier head must have been too hard and brittle, so the corner chipped off? Wow, the metal near the edge of the break isn't even "bulged" up in the slightest, meaning it didn't deform one bit before chipping.

It must have been especially brittle, perhaps due to an improper heat treat?
In order to be certain of having the right tool for every job.........one must first acquire a lot of tools

It doesn't look abused in any way, so it must have been a weak spot..
At least It'll be like new, when it leaves the country...  :)

But what's this..?

A new CC Plierhead

S30V® Stainless Steel Clip Point Knife

420HC Serrated Knife with Cutting Hook

Then it's officially a CHARGE TTI.....  :ahhh :ahhh
And that's a keeper....   ;)

Thanks for the upgrade Leatherman.  :salute:

(And that's why I'll be sending you my gorgeous 2HO XTI, Bob) ;)
