My first real tactical folder (Kershaw Blackout) was tip down and thats what I got used to.  I just can't get a long with tip up, and I find it slower in deployment, buts thats because of muscle memory.

Tip up for me as that is how I`ve always carried a clipped knife. Also since I almost always carry a waved blade it works much better tip up.
What? Enablers! Are you serrrrious? Where? I dont see any.

i thought tip up carry would win hands down,
looking at forums in other countries a knife gets slated if tip up carry is not an option.

It depends on where I am carrying the knife. For front pockets I normally prefer tip up. Back pockets tip down. For years I was 100% tip down, front pocket, but lately I have switched to tip down, back pocket (due mainly to the amount of keys and misc. crap that I carry about in my front pockets ) and like it better.

exactly.... i've only recently tried tip up carry and frankly i like it better now. i still catch myself replacing the folder as if it was tip down out of habbit. it does'nt make one or the other better. it's what you are comfortable with. nothing wrong with that.

I have been carrying (for the most part) tip-up for over ten years.  I have never had a mishap with the blade.  I should say however, that by carrying left handed the blade sits against the outside edge of my pocket so it really has nowhere to go.  Its all in what you like.

Tip up here.  I carry a waved Delica and haven't had any problems.

About all my clipped knifes are tip up,but I did have a little accident with my Sebenza the other day,I was in a hurry the other day while slipping it into my jeans, the tip was not all the way in,and I poked my thumb while I was pushing it in,not to bad, about like a needle prick, like they say,a sharp knife don't hurt as bad as a dull one.

How rude!  :D

I am tip down here as well.  Just got used to that kind of carry.

Bit of a thread bump with a change of opinion here.  After a bit more time with tip up carry, I actually have started to prefer it.  :tu:

Talking about "carry" I'll tell you I just avoided what could have been a bit of a disaster the other day at work.
Just got my new pants back from the Seamstress and this revived thread suddenly reminded me of it.

I carried my Spyderco Military to work awhile back and of course those who are familiar with it know you can
only carry it tip down.  On the same side I carry the knife (right side) I also carry my car and store keys on a
belt key clip.  My Toyota key is fairly lengthy and it got caught in the spyderhole as I was removing my keys
and pulled the blade out and cut a neat hole right through my slacks.  I didn't notice it until I looked down and
saw why my keys had gotten caught and there poking through was over an inch of blade through the material
and the tip of the metal key caught up in the hole.

So there was a situation where tip down and the spydie hole didn't mix too well.
I no longer carry the Military to work.

Tip up I'd rather the knife open in that position and cut a finger than tip down and cut something rather more important to me  :D

It's a pretty good movie, bring your kids, and go for 3D version if you can.
