A couple mods
on: November 30, 2009, 08:46:31 PM
Here's a couple mods I made up this past weekend. Posted over on SOSAK, but thought I'd put it here to (seem to be somewhat different audiences).

First is a custom I made from pulling the scissors and wood saw from a Champion, and putting a 84mm electrician blade in place of the small blade. Made it for carrying around the house doing DIY type stuff. I wanted something no bigger than 4 layers to carry. By combining the metal saw and fish scaler into one layer (no divider), I ended up with a knife only 0.5mm wider than an Explorer. The fish scaler was kept because of it's ruler, which I use all the time around the hose (pipe dimensions, bolt/screw length, etc).

Next, since I stole the electrician blade from an 84mm Electrician, I combined the left over parts with a MFV to make a Lumberjack variant:

Finally, I made myself a new EDC. I was carrying a Yeoman until I picked up a used Timekeeper. Started carrying that, but missed the Phillips layer. A broken Explorer from eBay donated it's mag/phillips layer, and I ended up with this:

Adding newer plus scales to the back allowed me to add tweezers to the Timekeeper like the Voyager and Altimeter models (just had to file open the hole). Overall I love the YeoTimer, but wish I had the newer watch with the arabic numerals. I find them easier to read. Anyone want to trade watches :D?

Dude those are pretty legit. I agree with the no saw on the first one... I tend to use the saw a lot, but I see your reasoning on the ruler of the fish scaler.

I love the use of the combi tool - keep thinking of making stuff with one.

should of got tinnie to make you some ruler engraved scales... then you could go slimmer or get the damn wood saw

(although he has been absent of late)

also where is the chisel!... no saw/scaler should go without a backspacer tool (eve it its a back up awl)
