Making leatherman bits

Haven't tried in myself, but heard of it being done successfully. Don't they make the smaller torx bits in the full set? No doubt you've checked out that option already

As in they make torx bits that fit the leatherman bit holder in sizes smaller than T10?  If so, I haven't seen those, but I'd love to!

Nope, you're right sadly. Doesn't look like they considered that fact that LM users are also knife nuts who need T5&6 bits to play lego with.... that was silly of them!

Man J-sews! You need to just start making "J-sews bitkits"! Say a couple sawzall blades, chisel bit, awl bit, and whatever else you'd like to throw in there & market the crap outta 'em! I know I'd buy 2 sets if the price was right!!!

Pretty sure I would buy it too. Mostly could use a chisel every now and then, instead of the large flat bit on the Surge.

Well thanks to this thread and more specifically Bob, I went out and picked up a spare 5/16" spade bit and made my own awl for my wave. Didn't take too long and was quite satisfying once it was complete.

Here's the bit. Cost $4.10 CAN from the local CrappyTire. I was originally going to use my old 5/16" spade bit but it was made in the U.S.A. so I decided to use the new one for the awl.


Here's a closeup of the spade. You'll notice I didn't have to cut off the tips on both sides like on Bob's.


Here's the end result. I used a Dremel with a grinding stone. Took my time and just kept grinding and trying it out until it fit. You'll notice there's two sets of slots. I didn't measure twice before cutting the first set 


And here it is in the Wave. Haven't tried it out yet.


I'm glad I took the time to do this mod. Wasn't expensive and didn't take that long and I had an excuse to hang out in my garage

You could repair that with JB Weld.

Looks outstanding angus, you do good work! I wouldn't fret about the extra notches - besides, they almost look like they're supposed to be there.
