We started geocaching earlier this year, but haven't done any for a few months now - it's on my daughter's list of things to do, so I might do some in the next couple of days actually.

I have an Etrex Vista HCx, and it's a great unit for geocaching, and finding your car again after a day on the Derbyshire Peaks and Moors :D

We've found 11 caches so far, need to work on that!

I used to come here a lot.

All I can say is Kids love treasure hunting. Just think about this.... You are using Billions of dollars that were spent to launch 24 satalites into orbit. These are used originaly exclusively for military. and now they use this for hunting tupperware containers in the woods for enjoyment.

Started recently, 5 finds.  I use the iPhone and Delorme PN-40.

Can't wait until summer to get back into it.

Long Island, NY.  There are Geocaches everywhere here.

They're everywhere, everywhere!

I was really surprised that living in the sticks in the UK there were so many in easy reach. Half a dozen within a 10 minute walk!

Started Caching last year with a Garmin Nuvi 250W.  It's surprising how good it is once you work out the right settings.  Not found a lot though, works been busy this year  ;)

There is no problem that cannot be solved by the use of high explosives.

 Geocaching ?  just google   lol

Sorry , Geocaching is the same as treasure hunting...but NOT for money , cold  etc...
is just a way to find caches with GPS ( the caches have a log book inside where you sign your name )
and IF there are any GOODS inside , you trade ( fair trade )

No joke , take a look on the internet. It's a great way to go out in the woods...And you will be surprized of
how many "caches " you will find near your house....

It's only as commercial as you make it, but I admit that the tone changed last year when there was a lot more press coverage about those crazy guys and their GPS running about in the forests.

I believe there is a Geocacher film out this year

I actually meant how you have to pay for most of the features on sites like geocaching.com

You don't have to pay at all. There is a "premium membership" available, but all the advice I got was that you don't need it, and I've certainly not missed it at all :)

All of the features you need (like downloading coordinates to your GPS etc) are totally free.

In fact the only cost is in getting a GPS unit, which I use for hiking anyway, so the geocaching is totally free for me.

I used to come here a lot.

YES just like DaveK said ...it's FREE !
just for fun on the main page plade your ZIP CODE or name of you Town / City and look all the places
you go by everyday and you never could think that someone placed a " Treasure" to be found....
BTW  READ as much you can before  buying a GPS...you are NOT going to find anything that cost LOTS of $$$$
in it, ( maybe if a rich guy want to be nice with the first to find ) most the times you find little toys , coins , etc...
I signed up about a month ago but I couldn't go out search for anything...and I know I go by the places most of
the time everyday on the way to work or any other place like supermarket , gas station etc....
Some are easy to get others will take some time to find... Take a look on your location....
  It's fun.

Haha awesome. Never heard of it. I just typed in my ZIP code and turns out there's a ton of em within a few blocks of my house. Places I go by just about every day. In fact by description alone I think I know almost exactly where one of them is at. Right across the street from my old high school lol. That is cool. I totally wish I had a GPS cuz now I wanna try it out. Description alone gets me SO close. Hell, I'm starting to think I should go scour my own back yard to make sure there isn't one there. It seems I'm surrounded by dozens of the things.

The iPhone app from geocaching.com is incredible, and it's only $10.  So if you already have a iPhone 3G or 3GS you have all you need to geocache.
