Just be careful running that drop-in on high with the Nitrolon head on the G2.
The Nitrolon head does not disperse the heat as well as an aluminum head, so the LED could be damaged if it gets too hot.

Yes, i'm aware of that, and a little caution indeed goes a long way,
The drop-in does make contact with the metal inner housing though, so that must at least help some with dispersing possible heat build-up, but i still won't run it carelessly on high for extended periods.
By the way, the beam quality is a very functional mix between hotspot and sidespill.
I'm quite happy with it,

Looks like it has a good but of spill compared to the incan unit. Should be a good one.

Wow. I really like that set-up. Mind if I ask what that drop in cost you? It might be worth it for me to get an old used G2 (or something else it'll fit in) and use the drop in.
EDIT: just saw that they go for only around $40ish. Battery Junction has 'em on sale for $35. Not bad at all. Now I'm really impressed. With a cheap donor body that could be a real nice way to get myself a new light when I have some funds
