Fascinating! I love those How Its Made videos :tu: Its amazing to see all the steps that have been automated (belt sanding the plier heads for example) as compared to the manual methods that would have been employed a couple decades ago. Looks like the only major step left that is human labor intensive is the handling of the raw forgings. :-\

With labor costs being (sometimes) the biggest single factor in the price of finished goods, they will have to automate it soon, or they will get beat out from competitors in lower cost labor markets.

Whether that guy with the forge tongs loses his job to a robot, or loses his job to a worker from China, either way he loses his job. :(
