AAAA Batteries
on: January 16, 2010, 10:47:15 AM
I saw these in Tesco's the other day. I have never seen these before; I have missed something.

Are these new and what takes them?

nope, been around for years.  I remember using them in the pen of a graphics tablet I owned once.  They are only really used in small, low drain devices like that.

trivia: If you open a 9v battery, you will quite often find 6 AAAA batteries.

Or sometimes not, as I found out. :D

I needed to pick up 3 of them myself for a pen light that Zach sent me but nowhere local was selling them so I tried the trick of opening up a 9V battery, what I found was 6xflat batteries not AAAA's. :(

I'll have a look for them in Tesco next time I'm in though. :tu:

AAAA batteries are not new, merely uncommon.  The Streamlight Stylus penlight uses AAAA batteries.

MT wise, the Wenger Torch and Wenger Laser both use two AAAA cells.  The Vic. AutoTool takes another oddball size for its torch, size N.
I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.

Best to avoid "if you can" gadgets that take AAAA batteries if possible  :tu:

Excellent news

Bit random for Tesco to have it though; perhaps I should get some now just in case a pen light comes my way  :D

My local Kroger carries the batteries, never really had a hard time in finding them.  If you do go the 9volt battery route, remember the cells aren't protected, so be careful putting the batteries in the light.
