I had to go to two different REI's.  But they had a lot of them.  Still working on my review but my initial impressions are good.  The Octane is more of a light use tool, and I'm not crazy about the liner lock.  There is no break in for the lock as it has already traveled all the way across the blade, so when the metal does start to slowly wear it will develop blade play.  I like the Strata more than I thought, seems very solid, and the drivers are actually useful.  As soon as I stop fighting my serpentine belt and thermostat on my car I will take some pics and a more detailed review.

Was hoping you were going to say Pineville or Charlotte.  If you grow tired of the octane we may can work a trade.

I never planned on keeping these, so send me a PM and we can work something out, I just need them for a few more days to finish my pics and review.

I think that is good marketing on Gerber's part to have the tools released so close after the shot show.  It means hardly any waiting and a big head start on the competition.  Maybe the others will catch on and all the companies will release early in the year.
