Just had an original wave turn up can see 0802B and 0902B in the handles. It's looks pretty rough at the moment, think I might have paid too much for it, but will have a go at cleaning it up. Haven't posted much before so not used to adding pics but have given it a try!

Thanks Steve, will give it a good go anyway. The blades are in a shocking state so it will be good practice at sharpening the 2 different types, hopefully I don't make them any worse....

That will be an interesting challenge for sure, especially the serrated blade. I have yet to find a sharpener with the right diameter to fit the large serrations on the Wave.

I notice that you're in the UK. That might be a good candidate for making UK-legal by just removing the blades.

Congrats on getting an OG wave :tu: :like: :like:

Just take it slow and sharpening isn't to big of a deal  You would be surprised at how well a serrated blade can be sharpened  :salute: I have a couple different diamond tapered rods that I use to sharpen or maintain serrated blades :tu:

mmmm, making it knifeless might be a good idea, got me thinking now.

Will get it cleaned up first and see how it looks....

Thanks Poncho, definately will take it slow and steady, have a couple of tapered rods that will help. I've found plenty of tips nd info on the forum already and I'm sure there's plenty more to find.

Thank you for accepting the absence of a pic of the tool here. I'm glad I gifted an OG Wave to my son in NYC because he has had to remove a few screws from a bookshelf to get rid of it properly :ahhh
Cheers!

Hi. I've got two in my collection, still think they're one of the best designs to come out of the industry.

I've working on rehabilitating one of them as we speak. It's dirty, smells funny and is in dire need of a good sharpening. As we all know, step #1 is to take many pictures.  :D

Here's a taste, I'll start a new thread in a few days when I get it all done.

Anyone have any tips for sharpening the serrated blade? My Sharpmaker has proved fruitless so far.
I have grinded the blade by using dremel and a small diameter grinding tool. Do not grind too much, just slight touch makes it sharp again.

Thanks Ponch... he's moving back to Europe for a year's archive research. Ongoing dismantling of the NYC household recorded in pic below, this time with the tool!
