for those who have them what are your impressions? Ive picked up a flash2, trident and aegis. I love the assisted opening but the overall feel is light and flimsey. Do they hold up well after alot of use?

I'd say they are on par with other non-lined FRN handle knives. FRN may feel cheap and flimsy but it's actually quite tough, and will deform quite a bit before breaking.

Jim, my thoughts on my Flash are the exact opposite to yours!
I like the build, but think the AO is poo. Very sluggish compared to others I have.
The construction and ergo's are spot on IMO (apart from mine has play annoyingly) and I love the pocket clip design. Mine would see loads more pocket time if it didn't have blade play.
I'm back!!

all 3 of mine have the blade play. The assist on mine is good, as fast as my kershaws and my benchmade afo auto.

Old SOG's like Air SOG's and Tomcats from the early ninties were solid kit , the newer stuff is not ready for prime time .

I have a couple of SOG folders and I really don't care for them. I don't care for the light feel and I'm not a fan of the AUS 8 blade steel. It seems very "cheap" to me.
SOG's fixed blades are too bad, but their folders are not for me. I prefer Benchmade and Kershaw and Spyderco.

With Spyderco's and Kershaws being widley available , I don't see why anyone would give SOG folders a second look . On the F/B's I disqualify myself .

I have I guess 3 sog's
Two Tridents and one Flash 2. Love the two Trident's. Everything
pretty much works like it should. Blade play is there but doesn't bother me much. Assisted works
ok although as mentioned not as fast unless adjusted but then you end up with a bit too
much play. One thing keeps me away from carrying the flash 2 and that's because of the lock
release is a bit difficult to push over to close the blade. On the Tridents it's smooth and easy.
I buy Sog's because of their looks, not always their performance which might according to some
be a bit outdated but do perform quite well. Oh and yeah they are right up there in price too.

I owned a Twitch but didn't like it so I sold it after a week. I used my buddy's Flash 2 for a few days while he was away and thought it was ok, but I don't plan on buying one. I held a Tomcat in a store and like it... again, not enough to buy though. All in all, SOG's are ok but from all I've read/heard I think their QC is going down. Honestly, I've been blown away by how good my Cold Steel American Lawman is. MOF, I'm looking forward to their new Voyagers. Unless SOG does a 180º turnaround I can't see buying anything of theirs anytime soon.

I've only owned a couple SOG fixed knives....early 90's Government and a Desert Dagger. Both were
superb
! However, I've read that there newer stuff is not quite as good quality...but that is just what I've read.
