might be a sog convert!
on: February 18, 2010, 05:48:14 AM
well I just might be a sog user. I have a new job at a furniture store and Ive been doing appliance repair, sogs cut wire so much better than LMs. The longer wire cutters and compound leverage is the sh*t! Im starting to like them so much I just traded a tti for a powerlock2.0. :o

My PoweAssist cut a 2mm coat hanger wire that broke my Gerber carbide cutters. My Surge did cut the same wirer as well though. The PoweAssist 'felt' like it could handle more

They cut braided steel wire for hanging pictures like butter! We use the thicker cable too.

Most certainly the tool kicks ass. Love the way it opens one handed , but one of my tool covers flew out when I flipped it open. they should rivet those in place also. I am now seriously considering grabbing a PowerAssist. I use the blade a lot and find it cumbersome to have to open the whole tool just to access the blade in my Powerlock. The TTi has fallen to drawer queen duty indeed.

:o hearing these stories of cheer strength and power make me want to wrangle myself one! Its been on my wishlist but right now I've been waiting a straight month for the jackass on ebay to SHIP my charge tti. I haven't yet been able to test it out so I can't even judge yet.  Are the powerassist pliers really that much stronger?

I'd put in a Paypal dispute on it; you only have 45 days to file a complaint. :/

I think they are stronger, I didnt care for them when I first got one. My first one was an older model the newer ones are better as far as the gear covers go, I also like the piano locks better. My new job I use the cutters alot and I think they out cut LMs by far. Ive also cut things with them that put dents in my LMs. I still dont like their tools as much as lms though.

sazabi- speak of the devil, I just got the charge today! problem is...by the time it got here...I have a waning interest. :-\
I still marvel at my powerlock because it was a restoration project and I remember that it was a rusted shut piece of junk when I got it, now it looks practically 1 month old!  I think I might have a renewed interest if I restore or mod one.

hmm...maybe a new Powerassist will ease my pain :D

SOG has really moved up on my edc list. Its hard to beat the Swisstools, but I think the SOG plier head kicks butt over Leatherman and Victorinox, IMO.  :D

Jim, any updates? Are you still loving your SOG? Out in my shop I only use SOG's, but I'm not 100% sold on them for edc yet.   I have a BO Paratool on the way that I got brand new, so we'll see how I like that one. I really love the Powerlock's.   :tu:
