Rhymes with fun.
on: February 21, 2010, 07:16:17 AM
Hello,

I just want to give a quick thanks.  This site was great help for me to find a good MT.  I've had awful little MTs since I was a kid (well, SAKs first) and the hinge has almost always given out (when the MT wasn't lost).  I decided it was time to invest in something decent.  So I read some stuff here which pointed me in the right direction.  I finally decided on a LM Juice CS4.  I just got it today and I'm pretty impressed.  It was expensive for me, but somethings are just worth investing in I figure; mattresses, shoes, and tools !  Anyway the CS4 is sweet.  I was concerned about the size, but it's just right for me.  I had a really hard time deciding between the CS4 and the XE6...  I thought the extra bulk on the XE6 would be too much, but having seen the CS4, I don't think so...  I really wanted that serrated edge.   And what's with that bloody corkscrew? Such a waste! I really don't think it's justified.  >:(

I think later on, I'll pick up something like the Wave for a stay at home MT.

Thanks guys!
Cam

Welcome to the forum

The corkscrew is very good at lifting fitted carpets and I hear some folks have used it with bottled wine before ;)
I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.

Welcome to the forum. The CS4 was my first decent multi as well. I wouldn't worry about the serrated blade because if  you hang around here for a while you will probably end up with a XE6 as well, amongst other tools  :)

Thanks a lot gentlemen! I looked all over the Internet for a decent MT (hours and hours).  I picked the CS4 because I wanted something small for pocket EDC and it had the tools I wanted. I think it's great.  I love how it 'snaps' shut.  Very nice feel to it.  I am a noob, so take that as you will. I guess the corkscrew doesn't have to be used for wine bottle corks.  :)

I expect I will end up with an XE6 in the not-too-distant future.  I didn't expect such a tough decision.

I like the full size TMs but I'm not really a belt-sheath kind of guy.  Perhaps I will be.

I tend to keep a full to medium sized MTs in my edc bag, and carry a Skeltool clipped to my belt

Hmmm... I do carry a backpack regularly.  Uh oh.  I can feel my wallet getting lighter.

Here are my MTs.  I had a fourth, but it was thrown out a few days ago because I was fed up with its broken hinge and dull tools.  It wasn't bad.  I think I'll start keeping broken ones.  Anyway, it was similar to the other cheapies.  It's funny, the one on the right is from a discount store and was $2 CDN.  It has the best hinge (pre-CS4) I've come across out of all the micro(?) MTs I've had.  It's very solid... but the tools are awful.  The one on the left is a Coast fisherman's tool.  I got it not long ago and it is terrible.  The tools are not bad but for those who care to know, the hinge is ridiculous.  I realize it's intended for cutting fishing line (the part that looks like wire cutters) but the hinge gave way on it's first use as I tried to cut a mere zip tie!  It wasn't like a squeezed with all of my might before it broke.  There is no way a person could use it to remove fishing hooks.  Maybe I'll post a pick.  It's unreal.  I don't know how they decided to produce it that way.  Deep breath.  Anyway, I guess I'm scarred by all of the broken hinges. I'll drop the subject... unless my CS4 gives way. :o

Darn, I should have had all of the tools out in the pic...

Very happy with the CS4.

Thanks,
Cam
