Tighten the pivot right down.  You'll only get grief if they can be opened with inertia alone.

I'm not sure what it was labelled up as, I think it said 'tools'

You're lucky and must not be on their watch list   all my packages are opened even if it's a SAK/flashlight ect....

Ben yes! I'm sure packages coming from the EU in my name have been opened and items dumped in the classic bag, your item was damaged on entry to the UK, they do gather intelligence especially when knives are concerned,I know for fact items from the EU are not exempt from scrutiny either

I'd imagine that if they had looked, they would have marked it as such.  I fail to see what they would have had to lose if that quote you gave is accurate.  All this sneaking sounds a bit too Starsky and Hutch to me TBH.

Normally they stamp it customs cleared on the original package I'm not saying there's cloak and dagger stuff going on but it does make one wonder

I believe it was labeled "cutting tool", not has general has "multitool" ( which I use for almost everything that does not use batteries   ) . Glad it arrived safely and intact.
