A aaaa aa aa nnnn dd  ............  there goes the thread!! Ben and Mike, you're both so totally predictable  :twak: >:(    :D   Gareth thanks for being the only sensible Brit here  ;) Replacing the bit changer with a dedicated phillips is good but I wonder if I could somehow get another flat driver in instead of the little bit changer?

Trouble is the bit changer is thicker than a flat driver

Might be able to help with that as well. :tu:  Yes it's a bit thicker than the small bit holder but you could thin it out without loosing any functionality.

The pub is always a good way of solving such problems... :tu: :D

Seriously now, if the recessed screws don't have enough space around them for LM's bit driver system, they'll likely not have enough space around them for the extender either. If it's just a matter of depth, go with the extender. For a better all-around solution, go with the Spirit (oh Dave... :pok: :D) Or go down the dark alley and mod a long LM phillips into your Wave.

You rang?

At least with recessed screws the Spirits drivers are less likely to slip off and cause injury  :P (Only joking).

I don't have a bit extender so can't say really :)
I used to come here a lot.

I have both Wave and Spirit and also the extender for Skele/Wave/Charge and Ratchet with extension bar. The LM extender wobbles in both Skele and Wave and the smaller bits don't sit well in the standard end of the adapter. My vote goes for Spirit X with ratchet and extension bar :tu:

p.s. LM adapter rusts :D (mine really did)

Why get the Spirit ???  True the driver may reach, but it would just keep slipping out anyway.  :P

This is very true.  While I praise Vic for their beautiful tools, they often stay at home because none of them grip worth a darn.  That is the only good thing about LM's new beadblast everything rule.  All the implements grab and hold on.  I really dig that wave mod, I may do that to one down the road.

Presumably flattening the little tabs in the handles just makes the Wave a bit harder to close?

I'm considering attacking this problem by hacking up a set of MUT bits when they finally come out.  Chop those crazy-long bits in two, and make two considerably-longer LM flat bits out of them.  The only reason I'm considering cutting them in two is to reduce some mechanical advantage that might bust my Wave, and so that I could more easily thin out the shaft to be the same width as the screwdriver head, meaning they'd fit better in some recessed areas.

Entirely theoretical at this point, as I don't have the bits, and I don't know if any of my tools would cut them if I did :P
Half-ass done wholeheartedly!

A dremel with a cutting wheel on it will cut any MT steel there is.  Get the reinforced ones, they last awhile.

You will find that a grinder will cut anything depending on the disk  ;)

They are tool steel, and harder than the rest of the tool, but any cutting disk will go through them like butter.  I just suggested dremel because it is small and you have a greater dexterity than a 3 inch cutting disk.
