The light is from http://ledfiretorches.co.uk/ cost £24 including recorded delivery, they ship fast and safe if anyone is interested  :salute:

It came well packaged tho at first when I saw the tin I thought someone had sent me chocolates  :D

What's inside the tin the A1 which included a battery CR123 pocket clip, keyring attachment and spare o-rings

A size comparison with a ITP A3 AAA,the reason I wanted a change was the fact that the A1 defaults to low,so it easy on waking eyes should you get up in those wee hours  ;)

And comparing to a AA and AAA batteries

A close up of the pocket clip and key attachment, you will note later I removed both as I have no use for them.

One thing that annoys some peeps is the fact it can't tail stand, well I soon sorted that out by removing the lug  :tu:

Now it tail stands perfectly!

You don't have to go to that extreme tho,you could use something like this  :salute:

And turn it into a mini lantern  ;)

With the lug removed  :tu:

All in all I like this little light it has a nice heft to it weighs 56 grams with battery installed, threads came silky smooth tho being a twist light I found it better to twist with the clip removed.

I also like the evenly spaced levels 1.9 lumens,37 lumens and 203 lumen's and best of all "well for me anyway" no strobe SOS modes or hidden modes, the beam profile is a smooth transition from hot spot to spill and mine is a warm white bin led so it'll be great for outdoors at night.

For £24 shipped and the fact it's good quality SS I'd say this was a steal and well worth considering if your after a small no nonsense light that does exactly what it says on the tin.

Thanks for looking and any questions please ask

[edit] beam shots are hard with a phone camera but I think you can get the jest it's a pretty good profile  :tu:

Great A1 review John  :salute:

Looks great; how does it compare to the A3?

Did I read elsewhere you got the A3 from geareurope.com? Are they based in Israel? How long is delivery?

The A3 is on it's way to Neil but from memory the A3 has a larger hot spot and on normal AAA's it's half the lumens of the A1 don't get me wrong the A3 is a good little light but for obvious reasons the A1 will throw much further and as I've said the A1 comes on at low level where as the A3 comes on at med level  :salute:

Yes geareurope are based in Israel I got it within a week tho so fast shipping  :tu:

Very good review John! Thanks for the nice pics also. Let us know how 1.9 lumens is in practice as in navagating a dark room at night. I might get one sometime later on.

Mike actually it's very usable low it will light up dimly lit spaces in the daylight and at night it's bright enough so you don't bump into things as you navigate around the house  :tu:

[edit] I think that may answer space cowboys question also  :tu:

That's what I was after in the A3. A really low lumen count, enough to negotiate around the house without disturbing anyone but plenty of back up lumens should the need arise  :tu:

John, would the low setting setting be similiar to a Maglite Solitaire?

PWM frequency has greatly improved from the original ITP A3 Upgraded. Instead of the original visible 200 Hz, you now get an undetectable ~2.43 kHz[qoute] from selfbuilt  :tu:

 If memory serves me correctly a match is twice as bright,so I guess the A1 is a tad brighter  :D

The best way I can describe it is: on low it will light up adequately where you want to see but it wont disturb others around you  ;)

One thing tho why do ITP insist on putting those annoying lugs on the end? it only adds more work for me to remove the dam thing  :D
