Surge Vs Super Tool 300
on: April 23, 2010, 05:24:51 AM
I am thinking of getting a Surge this weekend when I get paid. I already have a Super Tool 300. With that in mind, how would you guys compare and contrast the two tools? Do they have their own unique niche?

I owned a Surge in the past and thought it was too think and bulky when using the pliers.  The ST300 isn't a small tool, but it feels better in my hands.

There are pros and cons for each tool...Surge with the bit drivers and outside opening blades..ST300 with the excellent wire cutting capabilities and long drivers...there are probably a dozen differences but it's up to you what matters most.

Yeah I like how LM developed separate "families" of tools.

Kick to fuse to blast to core
PST to PST 2 to Pulse
Supertool to ST2 to ST3
Wave to New Wave to Charge and Surge

We get a few different categories to choose from, each with different items. I'm a fan of the Zytel group because of the progression in size and tools.

To me, the surge and supertool are both the biggest in their respective groups, but each have their individual niche as you say.

The Core seems to fit into the Supertool chain as well quite nicely.

The Core could have been named the ST250 I reckon. The biggest clue is that the ST300 has the Core's internal tools.
