The 335 got the most use live with the Strat in open G for a bit of slide or a Stones number.

Very nice guys  8)

I'll get some pics later, but I don't play my guitar much these days (arthritis pretty much put paid to that).

I used to have a strat, but given that I wasn't playing it much I gave that away, but I kept my favourite - my Les Paul Studio :tu:

I used to come here a lot.

I wanted a Les Paul my whole life, and when I finally got one (about 12 years ago now), I was too old and knackered to play in a band any more :D

There's a life lesson in there somewhere :D

The acoustic is just a cheapy I bought in 2000 to take to Italy with me (actually it's a semi-acoustic, it can be plugged in). I was living in an apartment with only Italian TV to keep me company in the evenings, so the guitar helped to while away some of the evenings (we didn't go out and get ratted every night :D).

The Les Paul on the other hand is a beauty. It's only a studio, but having played countless "copies" over the years, the difference the real thing makes is frankly immense. It will be one of the last possessions I'll part with. Acquiring it was fun too, but that's another story  :P

Nice Paul Dave. Who's in the poster behind?

It's a page from Sounds dated June 2 1979. It's a tour ad for the Damned, supported by the Ruts. "ADVANCE TICKETS ON SALE - PENSIONERS HALF PRICE" :D

It was on my bedroom wall when I lived with my parents, then when I got my first house and at some point SWMBO put it in a frame for me and it goes wherever we go now. Just a silly thing really, but I'd miss it if it wasn't there! :D

I used to come here a lot.

Nope. I meant semi-acoustic ;)

It was a couple of hundred quid or something - I really can't remember tbh.

Reminds me of my guitar teachers strat... He spent a lot of money on it to get it completely custom to him, including top of the line pick ups, bridge, bone? or graphite? nut, for get which, and a scalloped fret board. It was gorgeous, and almost 15-20 years old.

I'm sorry to hear that mate. I guess that makes yours a cherished item then :) I love the colour.

I picked mine out based on the balance of cost, action and sound, I'd never heard of Crafter until I picked it up in the shop. It does sound nice though, with or without the amp :)

I've been through many guitars in my career, generally trying to end up with higher quality ones so they were great for studio work as well as live.

I have Taylor and Takamine semis and the trusty Les Paul '78 Custom when things need to get dirty ;)

However, I also keep a piece of cr*p which I picked up for £37 about 24 years ago and I can't seem to part with it!

Pretty sure my buddy/instructor, the dude with the Strat, also had a Gretsch very very similar to this one. He loved Rockabilly, so much so that he milled (also a machinist) himself a titanium slider tube. He said it set him back some where in the ballpark of over $4000CAD, but that was like his baby. We rocked out together playing rockabilly all the time.

Could have been a Chet Atkins model actually...
