Definitely a cool old piece.  Too bad we can't see what other tools it has.

A fabulous old tool-knife! :tu: The scales are nickel silver. I think it was about the only metal they had back then that didn't tarnish or corrode. And I wonder who made that knife? It was almost certainly from Sheffield, but there were so many old masters there that could have made it.

For retrieving young urchins stuck up the chimney  :P

I've seen the exact same thing on another vintage tool somewhere ... but can't for the life of me think what or where  I'm tempted to say it's a grippy thing, maybe for helping pull laces, of maybe a deburrer of sorts. Where the blooming heck have I seen it?  :ahhh :ahhh

The other thing that's confusing me is the little tile cutter like doofus that's underneath next to the corkscrew  :-\

A really nice example of what was commonly called a Sportsman's knife. The tool inside is a folding shot shell extractor usually calibrated for 12 and 16 gauge shells. In early shotguns there were many made with no automatic shell ejectors and if a shell got stuck in the chamber this tool was used to remove it. If you could see the tool deployed,it fits over the raised portion of the shell.
The two,"buttons" are spare rivets to repair a horse's harness.

That's it alright. :salute:  The extractor on Lord Montagu's knife is double-sided, unlike this single-sided one on the old Vic:

Okay, so page 6 of the 1903 catalog. Look at SAK "Nr 238". WTF is that thing sticking up off the top near the main blade? Where the scissors are in most of the other models. I can't make any sense of that.
Shot shell remover/extractor.
