Fishing trip
on: June 05, 2010, 08:39:28 PM
I'm leaving in about an hour to go fishing, and I was going through my gear and tackle box in preparation. But I realized that the gear I'm carrying on my person (not in the tacklebox), well it's all SOG.  :-X

Haha I have my Trident folder (for quick cuts that don't necessitate a fixed blade; plus it has a line cutter) and my Field Pup. In the Pup sheath's extra pocket I have a Powerlock; I decided against the new Powerassist because I already have a dedicated folder, so a Powerlock with more tools should be more useful.  :)

I just thought I'd share with you all. I'm excited; this will be the first time this year that these tools will see work in a wilderness environment (rather than in a warehouse, etc.). In fact, it will be the first time the Field Pup will see any real use at all!  :D

Oh as a side note: I was talking to one of my mates a few days ago and talking about him buying or trading for my Wave (I never use it and he has really been wanting one, so why not?) and my dad goes "Don't get rid of all your tools. I may need one some day!" He evidently forgot about the PST I gave him a couple of years ago.  ::) So now he is trying to find it. But until them I have been letting him use one of my Powerlocks (I have two, a stainless and a BO) and I think he's falling in love with it!  So I think another tool nut may be developing in this house.

So this is just a random post I guess. I'm not even sure if I provided you any prompt as to how to respond to this thread! Hahaha

Hmmm... Any last minute gear suggestions? Anything I might have forgotten or could change?

Oops, I'm a day late for any gear advice. :-\

So how was the trip?
In order to be certain of having the right tool for every job.........one must first acquire a lot of tools

Haha it's cool. I'm going back again this Saturday.

It was awesome. Everything I brought saw a good deal of work! The Field Pup didn't retain its factory edge very well when I was gutting fish and such, but I resharpened it and it will hopefully be better now that I put a tougher edge on.

The real hero of the day was probably the Wave I loaned to my mate! He used it for everything, even sawing through a branch to get a hook that got caught in a tree.  :multi:
