What's in your SOG?
on: August 29, 2007, 06:16:05 AM
In this thread you can post your layout for your SOG, since I imagine that most SOG users do change them around. Sorry if this is a repeat.

On one side I have:
File
Can opener
Reamer/Awl
rubber washer
Can Opener
Wood Saw (soon to be replaced by Scissors)

On the other side:
Straight edge blade
rubber washer
Phillips Screwdriver
Flat Screwdriver
rubber washer
Serrated blade

Most of my SOGs are standard, with the exception of my ParaTool, which has a plain edge blade and a partially serrated blade.  The previous owner broke the serrated blade and SOG didn't have a serrated blade handy, so sent him a partially serrated blade as a replacement.

Most of my SOGs are standard but I've swapped SOG and PowerPlay parts on a few.  I've "SOGified" one of my PowerPlay PT-525's, replacing the PowerPlay internal components with components from a SOG S60.  And I've upgraded one of my SOG S44's with the handles from a PowerPlay PT-510.

I must admit I thought this thread would be more successful.

Let's see...

On one side:

File
Can opener/small flathead
Phillips driver
Large flathead
Awl
Saw

On the other side:
Scissors
1/4" drive
Bottle opener/medium flathead
Blade (half serrated)

It's stock, just as I received it.  I'd like to try the V-cutter, but I don't think I'd use it as much as the other 4 large impliments.  If I had to, I'd replace the blade with the V-cutter, since I always have a folder or other blade on me.

I've got a few SOG's, but I've never swapped around any of the blades. They're all stock standard.  :-\

That knife is a good folder.  I have had one since they came out.  Very useful.  Blade is good shape but it is TOO THIN.

Oooh... sounds like a little Multitool smack...

I really do not like the look of the nautilus.  It is that whole "looks like somthing I dont like" thing.

It is uncomfortable, but only if the light is folded in (it makes a huge lump in the handle).

I don;t think I care for the looks either, but if it works, it works, and there's no denying that.

I thought it looked like a good minimalist tool, one hand blade, screwdrivers, scissors, and a bottle opener for when I'm finished  ;D .

The flashlight I was happy about because there is no way I've found to carry a dedicated torch that isn't akward.

I decided the best way to carry it was with a small plier tool. The MP600 was best (not entirely surprisingly). One has a torch, one has pliers, one has scissors, one has a serrated and plain edge blade, one has a one hand opening blade, etc.

Save for the pliers, it had everything I needed, and nothing I didn't.
